  • Patent number: 4516677
Abstract: A pallet of moldable material, such as high density polyethylene, is ideally suited for transporting yarn packages having tubular cores. The pallet includes top and bottom surfaces with a repeating pattern of nubs upstanding from the top surface and a repeating pattern of depressions in the bottom surface, the depression pattern tracking the nub pattern. The nubs are shaped and dimensioned to receive one end of the yarn package tube thereover, and flexed to provide maximum surface contact with the inside of the tube. The outer surface of the tube also is received within a recess in the top surface surrounding the nub. A number of yarn packages are assembled on a pallet, and an identical pallet is disposed on top of the yarn packages, the depressions in the bottom surface of the top pallet receiving ends of the yarn package cores.

  • Patent number: 4488649
Abstract: A readily portable and, optionally readily disassembled rack comprises longitudinal members on either side and transverse members between the longitudinal members. The transverse members are spaced apart so that cylindrical objects--e.g., reels for wire and cable, rolls of paper, coils of steel, drums, etc.--rest on two adjacent transverse members. The longitudinal members are preferably formed of vertically spaced apart tubing. This permits the rack and contents to be handled by a forklift. It also permits the rack to be supported by the reels on another rack.

  • Patent number: 4435463
Abstract: A structure for protectively supporting and spacing rolls of web material in a multi-layer stack. The structure includes an elongated member of expandable polystyrene material having a pair of opposed surfaces. A first of the surfaces has a plurality of spaced parallel generally semi-cylindrical indentations disposed to receive rolls of web material. The radius of each of the semi-cylindrical indentations being greater than the depth of the indentation so that the rolls will be snugly retained within indentations in a pair of members and the members will be out of contact with each other. The member has a plurality of cavities located on the lateral edge surfaces thereof extending transversely of the axis of the semi-cylindrical indentation to render the expanded foam material substantially uniformly thick throughout to enhance uniform curing thereof.
