Patent number: 8235956Abstract: Packaging for an extra-labial fluid voiding apparatus includes a tube having a cylindrical wall, a closed end, and an open end. The cylindrical wall and closed end define a cavity that can contain the voiding apparatus. The cylindrical wall is pliable and has an inner diameter. A cap is adapted to respectively close and open the tube at the open end. The cap has an end plate with an annular flange extending therefrom. The annular flange is rigid and has an outer diameter. The annular flange is insertable into the cavity at the open end of the tube and within the inner diameter of the cylindrical wall. The outer diameter of the flange is larger than the inner diameter of the cylindrical wall to a degree such that the outer diameter and the inner diameter are engageable in a press-fit arrangement, when the cap is connected to the tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2009Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: FemMed, Inc.Inventor: James C. Patent number: 5027949Abstract: A lock assembly for a shipping case includes a rotatable knob received within an aperture of a lid. A latch bar rotatable with the knob is engageable with a ramped ledge in a protruding hub of the base. Rotating the knob secures the shipping case lid to the base. The knob includes a lock operator pivotally attached within a channel formed in a bowl of the knob. A lock beam of the lock operator, upon rotation of the knob, is engageable with any one of a plurality of detents formed in the lid that define the open, closed and locked states of the shipping case. A resilient spring plank formed integrally with the lock operator engages a recess formed in the knob and acts to bias the lock beam into engagement with the detents. A fastener assembly mounts the latch bar to the knob.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1989Date of Patent: July 2, 1991Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: F. Patent number: 4752046Abstract: A tape spool provides resistance to disassembly from shocks caused by rough handling by providing an annular hub projection extending axially of the spool hub to define a shoulder which interacts with an inner radial wall of a disk providing the second flange of the spool. The inner radial wall of the disk defines a central hole surrounding the hub projection, with contact between the radial wall of the disk and the shoulder of the hub restricting radial movement of the disk with respect to the hub. The disk and the hub also may include intermeshing splines which prevent relative rotation of the disk and the hub.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1986Date of Patent: June 21, 1988Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventor: James J. Patent number: 4676370Abstract: A locking mechanism is disclosed for releasably coupling together cover and receptacle portions of a reel storage container. The cover portion has a rotatably mounted, single-part hub member which is manually movable relative thereto between at least "open" and "closed" positions. The receptacle portion has a cam member engageable by a cam follower on the cover portion when the hub member is moved to its "closed" position to draw the cover and receptacle portions into tightly closed engagement. The hub member further has a spring latch arm that is an integral part of the hub member and is manually movable relative thereto between normal latched position in which the hub member and cover portion are latched together, and an unlatched position.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1985Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventor: Arthur G. Patent number: 4671409Abstract: A light-tight, self-contained canister for preventing a roll of core wound photosensitive media, used in a microfiche or microfilm reader-printer, from being damaged or exposed to actinic light during shipping, storing and dispensing. The canister includes an open ended opaque tubular sleeve closed at both ends by opaque end caps lockingly interconnected by a rigid tie bar extending longitudinally between the end caps along the core of the photosensitive media. At least one end of the tie bar includes a pair of resilient fingers. The fingers deform upon pressure engagement with a central receiving aperture formed in the end cap. Each end cap also includes a hub portion sized to rotatively support the roll of core wound media within the canister. Also, in an alternative embodiment, the fingers may be associated with the aperture and deformable upon engagement with the tie bar.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1985Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventor: James R. Patent number: 4637514Abstract: A one-piece thermoformed plastic wrap dispenser is provided for containing and dispensing sheet wrapping material such as plastic film. The dispenser includes an elongated body having a pair of like confronting hollow body shells. Each of the body shells has a pair of adjacent longitudinal edges interconnected by an integral hinge. There are also confronting longitudinal edges. Each body shell has a cross-section of an isosceles triangle whereby the body has a square cross-section. The body shells also have end walls with confronting pairs thereof having means for retaining such end walls in confronting relation. An integral cutting member is hingedly connected to the confronting longitudinal edge of one of the body shells by an integral hinge and lies closely adjacent to a side wall of the other body shell.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1985Date of Patent: January 20, 1987Assignee: The Dow Chemical CompanyInventors: James M. Patent number: 4466583Abstract: A latch for the door of a tape cassette includes a latching member for latching the door closed. The latching member is mounted for rotation about an axis between latching and unlatching positions. A spring, including a resilient arm, urges the latching member toward the latching position. One end of the arm is formed in integral, one-piece relationship to the latching member and the opposite end of the arm is free, but bears against a wall in one of the cassette housing halves on the side of the latching member in the direction of rotation toward the unlatching direction. In one embodiment of latch, the end of the arm which is attached to the latching member is located between the axis of rotation and the opposite free end of the arm.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1982Date of Patent: August 21, 1984Assignee: T/B & H Home VideoInventors: Peter M. Patent number: 3937325Abstract: In a cartridge comprised of a base member including a hub for receiving a wound web and a shell cover to generally enclose the winding surface of the hub, the shell cover has been modified to prevent unintentional disengagement of the shell from the base. The base member and shell each carry a portion of a locking mechanism which enables them to be releasably locked together in a hub enclosing relationship. The locking mechanism normally requires a separate tool to disengage it when separation of the base and shell is desired. This invention concerns modification of the cartridge and shell which prevents unintentional disengagement of the base and shell due to kinetic shocks, such as dropping on a hard surface.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1974Date of Patent: February 10, 1976Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Thomas W.
