  • Patent number: 5062530
Abstract: Disclosed is a file for holding various kinds of documents or letters, which is constructed essentially of a rigid rectangular main plate, a cover and soft pliable portions provided along at least the longitudinal side edges of the main plate. The cover sheet is dimensioned so as to cover the main plate and the soft pliable portions and is fused to the pliable portions and bottom end of the main plate. The top end of the cover sheet is left separable from the main plate so that papers or letters can be inserted or removed. The structure of the file is such that when the file is empty, the cover sheet is closely adjacent the main plate since no separation member is disposed between the main plate and the cover sheet. This makes the file very flat and convenient to transport.

  • Patent number: 4906057
Abstract: A closed portable card file comprises a base, cover, retractable carrying handle and a releasable latch to hold the cover closed. The back of the cover is square and extends down behind the back of the base and is hinged near the bottom of the base so that when the card file is in closed condition the back of the cover is approximately perpendicular to the base and when the card file is open, the back of the cover lies approximately in the plane of the base. Hence the card file can stand upright on the back of the cover when closed. When the card file is open and rests on a horizontal surface, the cover stands upright and is retained in open position by its weight. The base has rails for receiving notched cards and guides, and ribs which are parallel to the rails and are of a height to engage lower edges of the cards and guides and thereby reduce wear on the notches which receive the rails.

The sections in the closed condition have co-planar top faces constituting the top of the box. The top face of the second section moves into co-planar relationship with the bottom face of the second section in the opened condition. The sections furthermore have co-planar front faces which in opened condition move into face-to-face abutting relationship.

  • Patent number: 4730727
Abstract: A binder made of a rigid covering case and containing an assemblage of envelopes constitutes a diskette file. The diskette file provides a secure receptacle suitable for storage of 10, 20, or any number of magnetic diskettes used on microcomputers. When the binder is open, an accordion-like assemblage of envelopes structure expands to form a fan of the diskettes stored in the envelopes. The top of each diskette in the fan of the open binder is revealed and a single diskette can be located and retrieved without having to manipulate any of the other diskettes in the file. The assemblage of envelopes is bound to the covering case. The case consists of 5 coupled and hinged sections; front, bottom, back, top and flap. The flap folds over and attaches to the front panel. When such a binder is closed, the book-like diskette file may contain a large number of diskettes in a well-protected, organized filing pattern suitable for cataloguing and storage in library book-shelf fashion.

  • Patent number: 4729475
Abstract: A readily assembled covered container is disclosed. The container has a pivoting cover which snap-attaches to a tray. In the disclosed embodiment, bosses provided on the rear sidewalls of the tray are received in bores formed in the rear sidewalls of the cover to attach the cover to the tray. The bosses have a beveled surface that facilitates cover attachment, and each bore advantageously has a ramp-like channel associated with it that directs a respective boss to engagement within its bore. The tray nests within the inverted cover in a compact arrangement for improved packing, shipping and storing.

  • Patent number: 4722453
Abstract: The problem of storing microfiche transparencies, cards, documents, photographs or any other sheets of material in the vertical or inclined position, is solved by a simple rectangular tray with inclined ends and side walls, the inner top portions of which contain vertically extending grooves for receiving a pair of lugs on each side of planar rectangular partitions. The spacing between the lugs is such that the partition is inclined by no more than 30.degree. from the vertical when the lugs on one side of the partition are inserted into adjacent grooves. In the vertical position the lugs are vertically aligned in the same plane as the body of the partition.

  • Patent number: 4712679
Abstract: A container for thin rigid envelopes, each of which is a solid and has length greater than width the thickness much less than width--such as the package for a compact disc record album--having connected lower and upper levels. The lower level defines transverse and longitudinal axes of the container as well as a number of cavities with upwardly-disposed open ends, and the upper level comprises an exterior retaining wall and opposed ledges extending at an angle from the wall. An envelope may be inserted, width-edge down, into and held in one of the cavities; alternatively, such envelope may be placed on the upper level, length-wise on its lower edge and transverse the longitudinal axis of the container, with its lower corners supported, respectively, by the ledges. A spacer may be inserted into a cavity to separate the envelopes into distinct organizational groupings.

  • Patent number: 4695103
Abstract: A container particularly adapted for storing diskettes having an interior portion with a plurality of slots each adapted to receive a diskette to be stored. Indexing means in the form of a cam follower is adapted to move along a worm gear perpendicular to the diskettes within the holder. The cam follower sequentially engages during movement the stored diskettes and each engaged diskette is slidably moved out of alignment with the remainder of the diskettes to expose an edge portion thereof. The edge portion exposed has an indicia of identification, such as a tag or label, which is in this manner exposed for identification.

  • Patent number: 4684019
Abstract: The following specification discloses a diskette storage container having a base that has four upstanding walls that receive a plurality of pivotal slotted or fan tabbed individualized containers. The individualized pivotal containers have a plurality of slots provided by splines, ledges or webs on either side that receive diskettes therein and include a stepped base for exposing diskettes on a stair stepped basis within the slotted containers. Each individualized container is pivotally held on the base member by means of an upright securement formed as a pair of parallel walls forming a groove therein which receives a spindle formed in the bottom of the pivotal individualized container so that it can provide pivotal movement by the spindle moving in a rotational manner within the channel of the two upright walls forming the groove. The pivotal containers are enclosed within a hinged top cover that seats on the bottom base and provides for a dust cover and a protective case in cooperation with the base.

  • Patent number: 4676372
Abstract: A magnetic disc storage container includes a base member having a bottom panel and four rows of guide rails which are disposed at an acute angle with respect to the bottom panel. All of the guide rails are parallel, and the guide rails within each row are equally spaced apart. Storage slots between the guide rails accommodate discs in two rows, the discs being supported in a stair-step manner so that identifying labels applied to the top borders of the discs are always visible. A transparent cover element is hinged to the container, and the disc labels are visible even when the cover element is closed. The cover element is releaseably lockable in its closed and opened positions. The base member is supported like an easel when the cover element is locked in its open position, thereby facilitating selection and use of the discs. Furthermore a molded-in ledge permits the container to be used as a copy holder when it is opened to its easel-stand position.

  • Patent number: 4666039
Abstract: A transparent case (11) for a binder has a substantially parallelepiped form lacking one face and is made of transparent material. The lower support wall (17) of the case includes a wedge-shaped element (22) the sides of which project some millimeters inside the container. The sides (26, 28, 29) face the side walls (13, 14) of the case and are so connected as to spread the covers of the binder when it is introduced into the container. The wedge-shaped element (22) also has side faces (26, 27) parallel to the side walls (13, 14). The side faces (26, 27) space apart the binder covers so as to render them parallel and adjacent to the side walls (13, 14) of the container. This allows perfect viewing and reading of whatever writing or representation is on the covers of the binder and the best retention of the binder within the case, even when the binder contains few sheets.
