Patent number: 5893459Abstract: The present invention provides a sturdy display package which, in an embodiment, is made of first and second peripherally sealed transparent PVC sheets approximately 7.5 mils thick each. The package is particularly useful for displaying and protecting small items such as pain reliever packets or condoms. The invention includes a method and apparatus for making such a package. The first sheet is positioned over a nesting plate having a plurality of nesting modules, each corresponding to one package and being independently height-adjustable by a shim at a selected location to correct sealing flaws. The second sheet is then positioned over the first sheet so that the items are between the sheets. An RF-sealing die is provided having package-shaped sealing dies, each defining a pocket. The sealing die and nesting plate are pressed together so that each pocket receives a bulge formed by from one of the items.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1997Date of Patent: April 13, 1999Assignee: Modern Aids, Inc.Inventor: Douglas E. Patent number: 5884338Abstract: A garment for wear by the operator of a sport motor vehicle includes a map access pocket system disposed on or formed as part of an outer surface of the garment. This map access pocket system is configured to present a map to the wearer of the garment in a convenient orientation to be easily read when the map access pocket system is opened. The map access pocket system includes features which improve readability of the map by presenting the map aligned along a line of sight of the wearer of the garment, and other features which discourage the wearer of the garment from attempting to read the map while the vehicle is in motion. The map access pocket system also provides for storage of small items which are easily accessed by the operator of the vehicle. Both the map and other small items stored in the map access pocket system are protected from water, moisture, snow, and other elements commonly encountered in operation of sport motor vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1997Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: Intersport Fashions WestInventor: Paul J. Patent number: 5829593Abstract: A package is formed from an integral sheet of a thermoplastic material having three tray portions including a middle tray portion and first and second end tray portions that fold together to form the package. The middle tray portion has a first article receiving recess and is arranged to define a first receiving cavity for the first end tray portion. The first end tray portion has a mating surface, a second article receiving recess and a first hinge connected to the middle tray portion. The hinge permits the first end tray portion to be inserted into the middle tray portion with the first and second article receiving recesses aligned to secure the article. The mating surface of the first end tray portion after being inserted into the first receiving cavity of the middle tray portion defines a second receiving cavity.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1997Date of Patent: November 3, 1998Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventor: Donald J. Patent number: 5611426Abstract: A packaging assembly for both packaging and displaying a plurality of compact discs. The packaging assembly includes a support structure having tiered depressions formed into at least one row. Each depression in a row is sized to accept a compact disc and includes a retaining mechanism for selectively engaging a compact disc at each tier level. As a result, the support structure is capable of retaining multiple compact discs in each row, wherein each compact disc is retained at a different tier level. This enables the various compact discs to overlay over another without contacting one another. The tiered orientation also enables any one of the compact discs to be accessed without having to remove any other compact disc contained in the packaging assembly. The support structure itself is contained within a box, wherein the box has a forward surface that defines a large window.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1995Date of Patent: March 18, 1997Assignee: Point Group CorporationInventor: Ian R.
