    Abstract: Hydrocarbonaceous black oils are converted into lower-boiling hydrocarbons via a process which utilizes two separate catalytic reactor systems interconnected by way of a multiple-stage separation facility. Fresh feed charge stock is reacted in the first reactor system in admixture with hydrogen recovered from the second reactor system. Conversely, unconverted material from the first reactor system is reacted in the second system with make-up hydrogen and all the recycle hydrogen recovered from both reactor systems.

    Abstract: Multiple-stage separation of a mixed-phase product effluent resulting from the hydrocracking and/or hydrorefining conversion of a hydrocarbonaceous charge stock. Reaction product effluent is initially separated in a high temperature, high pressure first separation zone, the vapor phase from which is cooled and separated in a second separation zone to provide a hydrogen-rich vaporous phase. The liquid phase from the second separation zone is increased in temperature and separated in a third separation zone at a substantially lower pressure. At least a portion of the liquid phase from the third separation zone is combined with the vaporous phase from the first separation zone prior to cooling and separation in the second separation zone. A savings of about 10.0% in hydrogen loss is realized or about 12 standard cubic feet per barrel of charge stock.

    Abstract: A process for the separation of specific C.sub.2 to C.sub.6 hydrocarbons from a gaseous feed stream containing C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 -plus hydrocarbons. The feed stream enters an absorber and is first contacted by a primary lean liquid which is a portion of the bottoms product of the stripping column to which the rich absorber liquid is charged. The primary lean liquid contains the specific hydrocarbons which it is desired to separate from the feed stream. The feed stream is then contacted by a secondary lean liquid which does not contain these hydrocarbons and which is produced by fractionating a second portion of the stripper bottoms.

    Abstract: A hydrocarbonaceous oil is introduced to a quench and scrubbing zone mounted on a fluid coking reactor. Heat from the coker vapor product vaporizes a portion of the hydrocarbonaceous oil. The unvaporized portion of the oil is used to quench and scrub the coker vapor product. The bottoms fraction of the quench and scrubbing zone is passed to a vacuum distillation zone to recover a heavy oil fraction and to produce a vacuum residuum for use as coker feed.

    Abstract: Naphthenic solvents and low aromatics mineral spirits are produced simultaneously by blending a hydrocarbon oil boiling in the range between about 100.degree. F. and about 600.degree. F. with an aromatics fraction having an initial boiling point similar to that of the oil to produce a blend containing in excess of about 10 weight percent aromatics, hydrogenating the blend in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst until aromatics present in the blend have been converted into lower boiling naphthenic compounds, and thereafter fractionating the hydrogenated material to produce a highly naphthenic overhead fraction useful as a solvent and a low aromatics bottom fraction useful as mineral spirits.

    Abstract: Process with improved efficacy for the separation and recovery of desired liquid and vapor constituents from a feed stream containing such constituents. The feed stream is contacted with two separate and distinct lean oils by upward passage through an absorption zone. Resultant rich oil passes to a stripping zone and then to a fractionation zone. A first lean oil is withdrawn from fractionation zone bottoms and enters the absorption zone superior to the entry of a second lean oil. The second lean oil is withdrawn from the stripping zone and passed to the absorption zone. A stripped vapor is withdrawn from the stripping zone and is mixed with the feed. This mixture is partially condensed in a cooling zone and then separated into liquid and vapor phases in a separation zone. The vapor phase is then withdrawn from the separation zone and is introduced adjacent the lowermost point of the absorption zone.
