Abstract: A device for handling seeds and grains, suitable for use in food processing and/or preparation, is disclosed. This device features a semi-spherical bowl with perforations, a wiper that is activated by engaging the handle, and measuring lines on the semi-spherical bowl.
Abstract: A three-stage separator system for separating the solids and liquids from a slurry includes a first stage having an inclined housing defining a liquid channel. A slot sieve is disposed over an open surface of the channel. A mechanical vibrator assembly imparts mechanical vibration to a vibration zone of the slot sieve. A slurry delivery apparatus delivers the slurry to the slot sieve. A second stage includes an inclined conveyer positioned to convey partially-separated solids and includes a drive mechanism driven at a speed to cause the partially-separated solids to tumble as they are transported up the conveyor. A third stage includes a press positioned to accept partially-separated solids passing out of the tunnel press restrictor.
Abstract: A screening apparatus for processing excavated material from a ditch into fines and roughs is disclosed. The screening apparatus includes an inclined lift conveyor for moving the excavated material upward and depositing the excavated material onto a convex vibrating screen surface. A transfer conveyor having an arcuate belt path as disposed below the separator for introducing the fines to the excavation. The separator includes a reversible motor for providing a first vibration and a second vibration to the separator.
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for threshing seed crop, such as wheat, barley, rice, corn, beans and many others, by moving the seed crop circumferentially through a trough-shaped screen with openings through which the kernels can pass. A rotatable hub and a multiplicity of tines which project generally radially therefrom are coaxially rotatable relative to the screen. The hub and the tines are rotated so that the free tine ends, which are spaced from the screen, move past the screen at a speed approximately equal to the speed of the apparatus through the seed crop field. The hub and tines are vibrated to superimpose on their rotational movement a multiplicity of cyclical accelerations and decelerations as the seed crop moves from one side of the screen to the other to thereby separate the kernels from the plant growth.
Abstract: A sifter, shaped to nest within a similarly shaped sifter, includes a tapered, hollow body, a handle connected to the body and extending outwardly therefrom, and an actuating mechanism extending along the outer surface of the body for driving an agitator positioned within the body.
Abstract: A method and separator for removing sugar crystals from a syrup. The syrup is continuously delivered to a space defined by an inner conical first perforated wall subjected to air pressure and an outer conical second perforated wall coaxial with the inner conical wall and subjected to a vacuum from outwardly of the space containing the syrup. The perforations subjected to a vacuum are restricted by projections on a plate that extend axially into corresponding perforations and are movable axially therein to maintain these perforations unobstructed by sugar crystals. Rotationally driven scrapers scrape the inner surfaces of the second perforated wall in synchronism with the projections extending into the perforations.
