Bars Patents (Class 209/393)
  • Patent number: 4250038
Abstract: A sieve or screen of the type supported in an inclined position so that a slurry can cascade downwardly over a working surface of the screen is formed with spaced apart, generally parallel rods or wires which extend transversely to the direction of slurry flow; and is characterized in that the means or hardware which secure the rods in spaced apart and parallel relationship are located at the working surface of the screen, as opposed to the traditional practice of locating such hardware at the opposite or underlying surface of the screen.

  • Patent number: 4193503
Abstract: A self-cleaning screen for separating fibrous and other solids from flowing slurries, the screen having a flow surface formed by parallel laterally spaced screen wires disposed perpendicular to the flow direction of the slurry, each screen wire having a flat rearwardly declining top bounded forwardly by an arcuately convex leading edge and rearwardly by a sharp trailing edge and downwardly converging flat sides, the screen inducing a ripple motion in the slurry flowing across the screen wires and directing solids over and liquid downwardly between the wires.

  • Patent number: 4113626
Abstract: Screening apparatus provides improved dewatering of liquid slurries by flowing the slurry across a generally parabolically shaped perforate screening surface inclined at an angle to the horizontal. The angularity of the generally parabolically shaped screening surface is adjustable at any time or at any point in the screening process. The preferred embodiment of screen assembly, which incorporates multiple bars extending generally transversely of the flow direction of the slurry, is fabricated by a method which facilitates the provision of screening slots of different widths in different areas of the screening surface.

  • Patent number: 3993567
Abstract: A screen element for joining with other like elements in defining a screen surface over which liquid slurry embodying solids may flow for separating and classifying purposes, said screen element being designed to orient in a sense transverse to a slurry flow and having an elongate bar-like form a surface portion of which provides a segment of the screen flow surface, said element being characterized by at least one portion thereof intermediate its ends being laterally offset with respect to said ends, said laterally offset portion being configured to provide that the flow surface portion thereof has a progressively changing width intermediate its ends.

  • Patent number: 3971714
Abstract: A hopper apparatus of a type intended for dispensing granular or powdery materials into a conveying system. A container associated with the hopper apparatus has a pair of tapering walls with a discharge opening therebetween. A conveyor loading chamber below the discharge opening and adjacent one of the container walls is in communication with a conveying system. A screen is pivotally mounted to and extends along one of the tapering walls. The screen also overlies the conveyor loading chamber to prevent foreign matter from entering the conveyor. A projection connected to the screen lies slightly in the path of movement of the conveyor to thereby vibrate the screen. A plate mechanism disposed between the discharge opening and the conveyor loading chamber is spaced sufficiently from the wall and screen to allow the powdery or granular matter to pss by, but close enough to the wall such that it will trap larger foreign objects and hold such foreign objects out of the main flow path.

  • Patent number: 3943054
Abstract: A segmented screen body or bottom for classification, screening and washing of fragmented hard stocks employs a multiplicity of segmented elements constructed of elastomer or rubber material which, when abutted and supported in predetermined relations, define sieve apertures of a predetermined size and extending, if desired, in staggered longitudinal rows. The structure further requires a multiplicity of parallel transverse metal wires or equivalent elements which are embedded and extend through appropriate apertured portions of the elastic components. In the preferred form the essential elements include T-shaped and L-shaped elements, all of which may be obtained from identical integral moldings of T-shape and many of which are cut along transverse lines at the T-top to provide from the same moldings complementary L-shaped elements.
