Abstract: This invention relates to a sieve cloth and a method of connecting the sieve cloth to a sieve apparatus of a type having an endless sieve cloth supported by a support belt which, in operation, is structured in a manner allowing it to rotate around at least two spaced-apart turning rollers. The method includes the steps of providing at least one sieve cloth sheet having an upper side, a lower side, two side portions and a first end portion and a second end portion extending between the side portions; bringing at least a portion of the sieve cloth sheet into engagement with a portion of the support belt; positioning the sieve cloth sheet against the support belt by moving the support belt around the turning rollers; bringing at least two adjoining end portions into engagement with each other until the at least one sieve cloth sheet forms an endless sieve cloth. Abstract: A first substance is separated from a flowable primary substance flow by mixing and precipitation in a separating device. The mixing binds the first substance and at least one magnetic carrier particle to each other. In the precipitation, the carrier particles contained in the primary substance flow, including the bound first substance, are separated by magnetic forces into a residual primary substance flow depleted of the first substance and a secondary substance flow enriched with the first substance. By varying a parameter which influences the magnetic forces in a predetermined manner during the precipitation, the content of the first substance in the secondary substance flow and/or in the residual primary substance flow is influenced. Based on the change of the content of the first substance caused by the variation due to the predetermined variation, at least one parameter of the separation method is set.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to systems and methods for a solar and/or AC current powered water disinfection system that is sized for portable use and is specifically tailored for use in under-developed areas of the world or in areas where natural disasters have occurred. Embodiments herein disclosed provide for a system that utilizes an ultraviolet light that is operatively coupled to a pump, inverter, battery, and a charge converter that is adapted for use with a solar panel or AC current. The system is placed into a storage container, or the like, and the water in the storage container is pumped through the ultraviolet light, which kills most waterborne, water-washed, and water-based diseases.

Abstract: The systems may be used for treatment of water that contains contaminants. Water containing at least one of a nitrate, percholate, chromate, selenate and a volatile organic chemical is combined with nutrients and then is processed in an anoxic-anaerobic bioreactor. The combined effluent may also be oxygenated by dosing with hydrogen peroxide or liquid oxygen. The combined effluent of the bioreactor is dosed with a particle conditioning agent. The combined effluent treated water of the bioreactor is then filtered in a biofilter to produce a treated effluent stream. The influent water and combined effluent of the anoxic-anaerobic bioreactor may also be dosed with hydrogen peroxide to control biomass content in the system.

Abstract: A water softening system includes apparatus that recycles a substantial percentage of the solution used for regenerating the system. This system conventionally includes a brine tank and a softening tank through which hard water from a source passes during normal operation. During a regeneration mode, the solution of sodium or potassium ions in the brine tank passes through the softening tank acquiring hardness ions, and then through a nanofilter that passes a much higher proportion of the sodium or potassium ions than the hardness ions from a high pressure side to a low pressure side. The hardness ions flow from the upstream end of the nanofilter through an outlet and into a drain. The liquid passing through the nanofilter contains salt that returns to the brine tank for reuse. A preferred embodiment tests the concentration of softening alkali metal ions in the liquid flowing from the softening tank during a fast rinse portion of the regeneration cycle.
