  • Patent number: 10710009
Abstract: A retrofit no filter no run insert for existing filtration systems manufactured without a no filter no run engine integrity protection feature. The insert is beneficial for a manufacturer that initially does not require the benefit of a no filter no run engine integrity protection feature but later requires such a feature. The insert can be installed into the existing filtration system without any modification to the existing filtration system head. The no filter no run insert prevents the equipment supplied by the filtration system (e.g., an internal combustion engine) from being operated without a filter element. Further, the no filter no run insert prevents the equipment supplied by the filtration system from being operated with an unauthorized or non-genuine replacement filter element. The no filter no run insert safeguards against damage to downstream components of the filtration system and malfunctions of equipment in which the filtration system is used.

  • Publication number: 20080257802
Abstract: An apparatus for purifying and dispensing water of a quality suitable for human consumption comprises a first reservoir for holding unfiltered water. The water moves by the force of gravity downward through a water filtering and purifying cartridge into a second lower reservoir. An electrically powered hydraulic pump and associated electrical controls and plumbing enable the pump to periodically lift water from the second reservoir to the first reservoir to permit its return through the filter thereby enhancing the purity of the water before it is dispensed. The apparatus may include first, second and third reservoirs wherein the first reservoir is nominally at the same level as the second reservoir with the unfiltered or filtered water being pumped from the first reservoir and passed through the filter into the second reservoir.

  • Patent number: 7416670
Abstract: It has been discovered that a mechanical flotation system (10) having only two cells (18, 20) can be nearly as efficient as one having more cells, yet provide an apparatus with a considerably smaller footprint, significantly reduced capital and operating costs, as well as be resistant to floating oil recovery platform wave effects. The dual-cell mechanical flotation system (10) has, in sequential order, an inlet chamber (16) and two gasification chambers or cells (18, 20), each with at least one gas ingestion and mixing mechanism (32), and a discharge chamber (24). A common primary skim collection channel (40) atop the partition (44) dividing the gasification chambers (18, 20) efficiently channels away the bulk of the floating collected matter.

  • Patent number: 5207897
Abstract: An automatic pumping system for removal of floating contaminants and oil and gasoline seepage from water wells. A vertically reciprocating cone-shaped member, like an inverted funnel, is moved between positions above and below the water surface. As it submerges, the inverted funnel collects the floating product within its circumference and transfers it to a collection space surrounding the cone. In the upper position, this collection space is sealed so that air may be blown into it while the collected product is driven out through a pickup tube to a collection sump for ultimate disposal. A second embodiment incorporates a hydraulic pumping system which operates in synchronism with the contamination collection and disposal system to create a cone of depression which draws the floating product into the space covered by the circumference of the reciprocating cone.

  • Patent number: 5071546
Abstract: In the case of a horizontal filter surface, a base plate together with U-shaped bars fixed to the surface thereof form the support for the filter surface. Between the bars, the profile legs form drainage pipes for the filtrate. The passage of the bars is used as a pipe for a heating or cooling medium. At their ends, the bars are interconnected by connecting channels in such a way that the bars form a single pipe, the heating or cooling medium being supplied by an inlet pipe connection and is removed at the end of the pipe by an outlet pipe connection. The filtrate collecting in the pipes is drained off by the drain pipe connection. The arrangement ensures a good heat transfer to the filter cake located on the filter surface and also constitutes an uncomplicated, inexpensive solution, because the bars simultaneously form the drainage pipes for the filtrate.

  • Patent number: 3945921
Abstract: A rotary centrifugal machine, for example a centrifugal extractor for removing fluids from wet laundry loads, includes a basket rotatable within a casing. A load conveyor deposits material into the basket while the basket rotates at a relatively low speed. After loading, the speed of basket rotation is increased to subject material within the basket to centrifugal forces. Unloading of material from the basket is accomplished by lifting a movable wall from the bottom to the top of the basket during low speed rotation of the basket so that material lifted above the basket wall is centrifugally thrown outward from the basket. The casing and basket are suspended by pedestal assemblies and pneumatic biasing assemblies for damping and resisting lateral casing movement. A switch operated by casing movement senses load imbalance. Automatic redistribution of an unbalanced load is effected by unloading the material and reloading it in a distributed condition.
