Publication number: 20090304526Abstract: A pump apparatus includes a gear pump assembly interposed between top and bottom drive gear assemblies, and coupler assemblies interposed between a bottom of the top drive gear assembly and a top of the gear pump assembly, and between a top of the bottom drive gear assembly and a bottom of the gear pump assembly. The drive assemblies rotate a pre-feed auger. A cyclone screen located within a cyclone housing is positioned over a shaft of the pre-feed auger and interposed between a blade of the pre-feed auger and the bottom drive gear assembly. An intake housing is positioned over the blade of the pre-feed auger, and regulates fluid intake into the pump. As fluid is taken into the pump, it is caused to spin by the action of the auger. This causes solids to be separated from the fluid and to be expelled through exhaust ports in the pump apparatus. As a result, fewer solids are permitted to travel northward with the pumped fluid, thereby helping to protect the components of the pump.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 26, 2009Publication date: December 10, 2009Inventor: Michael Brent Ford

Patent number: 7438803Abstract: A garnet settling/filtration system for use with a plurality of machine tools such as a water jet cutting machine is described. The garnet settling/filtration system comprises a settling tank, which utilizes a removable, disposable settling weir, which is received therein. The settling weir drops into the settling tank and provides an over-under flow system through which the garnet slurry must travel. As the flow of the slurry travels over and under the incorporated series of baffles, the garnet particulate settles out on the bottom of the liner. Once the liner has reached its maximum holding capacity, a series of incorporated, reinforced removal loops located near the top of the liner allow for the easy and quick removal of the liner and the settled-out particulate from the settling tank. The liner can then be discarded and a new one replaced in a matter of minutes, thereby reducing downtime of the machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2007Date of Patent: October 21, 2008Assignee: Ebbco, Inc.Inventor: Duane C. Patent number: 7056432Abstract: The present invention relates to small vehicles such as lawn and garden tractors and more specifically to an oil filter assembly used with the transmissions of such vehicles. The filter assembly is housed within the transmission case to reduce mounting brackets outside the case and minimize the likelihood of insufficient oil supply to the filter, pump and hydraulic system functions. The replaceable oil filter assembly is comprised of a filtering element, a strainer element and a by-pass valve. The by-pass valve is housed within the strainer element and is adapted to direct oil flow through the strainer element, but not the filter element when the oil viscosity is high and only through the filter element when the oil viscosity is low. Patent number: 6716341Abstract: A fluid filter assembly includes a shroud containing a filter module. A fluid pump is coupled to the shroud and operated to draw transmission fluid from a fluid reservoir in a transaxle housing into the shroud and through the filter module in the shroud to produce a stream of filtered transmission fluid to be pumped to a transmission or other destination in the transaxle housing. The shroud includes a filter housing containing the filter module and a mount flange cantilevered to the filter housing and adapted to mate with the fluid pump.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2002Date of Patent: April 6, 2004Assignee: Arvin Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Ledu Q. Patent number: 6669451Abstract: An inlet port filter plate for attachment between a compressor inlet port and a suction hose assembly. The inlet port filter plate includes a main body and mounting surfaces for attachment between the compressor and the suction hose assembly or between the compressor and the compressor hose block. The main body defines a passage that allows for refrigerant flow through a filter which is positioned in the passage. The filter is adapted to stop debris in the refrigerant flow.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2001Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Inventor: Thomas M. Wall

Publication number: 20030226792Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-layer filter element. The invention provides a main filter layer which preferably consists of a melt-blown fleece and has an absolute filtration capability. A paper layer (2) on the clean side supports the filter element and does not contribute to the filtering of the fluid to be filtered. Said layer can therefore have a macropore structure, thereby allowing a low flow resistance. A layer (3)on the clean side which preferably also consists of paper serves to pre-filter the fluid and to protect and support the main filter layer. The inventive design of the multi-layer filter material provides a means for economically producing filter elements, especially filter cartridges which are folded in the shape of a star, since no trellis protective layers are necessary. The invention also facilitates an improved thermal disposability of the proposed filter cartridge.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2003Publication date: December 11, 2003Applicant: Filterwerk Mann & Hummel GmbHInventors: Manfred Tumbrink, Joachim-Paul Krieger, Gunnar-Marcel Klein

Publication number: 20030196943Abstract: The automotive coolant filter was devised as a result of the inventor servicing an automotive cooling system and witnessing the evidence of contaminants depositing on cooling system surfaces. The inventor reasoned that other vital engine fluids such as motor oil and transmission fluid are filtered, wouldn't the coolant benefit also from filtration? Of course! By the simple filtration of circulating engine coolant through a paper or a fiber corrugated element, the majority of transient contaminants will be trapped. This in turn will extend the life of anti-freeze coolant as well as vital engine cooling system components.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2002Publication date: October 23, 2003Inventors: Joseph F. Patent number: 6613221Abstract: A sieve filter for fluid lines, especially for hydraulic pressure lines (2) in internal combustion engines which is formed of a hollow cylindrical main body (3) with a fluid inlet (4) and a fluid outlet (5), and of a fine mesh filter element (6) for through flow by fluid which has a bypass function when the filter element (6) is stopped up or filtering highly viscous fluid. The sieve filter (1) is biased by a spring element (7), and is insertable together with the spring element (7), between two axially spaced opposing surfaces (8, 9) inside the pressure line (2) such that its fluid inlet (4) and the spring element (7) are prestressed against the opposing surfaces (8, 9), whereby the main body (3) of the sieve filter (1) closes a bypass fluid channel passing the filter element (6) which is clearable through an axial displacement of the main body (3) against the force of the spring element (7) resulting from the rise of fluid pressure on the filter element.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2001Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Assignee: INA-Schaeffler KGInventors: Eduard Golovatai-Schmidt, Frank Lauterbach, Rainer Ottersbach
