  • Patent number: 8877049
Abstract: According to one embodiment, water to be treated is passed through each of a first reactor vessel and second reactor vessel, phosphorus contained in the water is removed by using an adsorbent, thereafter the liquid held in each of the reactor vessels is discharged from each of a first treated water discharge path and second treated water discharge path, and thus the influence of soluble impurities derived from the water is eliminated. Further, when suspended solids impurities contained in the water are accumulated in the phosphorus adsorbent, the accumulated impurities are eliminated by a reverse cleaning operation using a liquid to be thereafter introduced from a reactor vessel liquid introduction path into the reactor vessel, and hence the influence of the suspended solids in the water on a desorption agent liquid to be thereafter introduced into a crystallization vessel, and containing phosphorus from the phosphorus adsorbent is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 8877048
Abstract: A series of cascading basins is excavated along a sloped floodway typically established between adjoining agricultural fields. These basins address problems of stormwater runoff from agricultural lands and certain urban areas where runoff carries sediment, nitrogen, phosphorous and other pollutants into nearby streams, rivers and tidal waters, The cascading basin series begins with basin placement at a higher topographical elevation, followed by basin positioning downwardly along a natural or excavated floodway slope simulating a terraced effect. As upper basins are filled they spill over into basins therebelow. Angular features of basin exit grade and stormwater escape slopes retard egress of stormwater. A lowermost terminal basin includes sand berm, boulders, rip rap and other barriers to retain the polluted runoff. Basins may include vegetation, slag stone layers, and other pollutant treatment elements.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improving the quality of solids and liquids recovered at atmospheric pressure and temperature from a stillage stream generated as a by-product of an ethanol production process, the recovered solids having higher bio-available amino and fatty acids than evaporation-produced condensed solubles, the recovered liquids having less total solids and total suspended solids than evaporation-produced condensate. A static mixer includes an input for receiving the stillage stream combined with a GRAS anionic polymer, a cylindrical mixing chamber that controllably mixes the stillage stream and the polymer to generate wet flocculated solids and liquid co-product, and a discharge chute that outputs the wet flocculated solids and liquid co-products onto a moving, gravity filter belt having a membrane surface that separates the output from the static mixer into recovered liquids in the form of clarified, thin stillage and recovered solids in the form of dry flocculated solids.

Abstract: Provided is a wastewater treatment device that can reduce the fluoride ion concentration in industrial wastewater to improve the recovery rate of purified water. A wastewater treatment device (1) includes a biological treatment unit (3) that decomposes and eliminates organic matter in wastewater by means of microorganisms, and a desalinization unit (4) that is provided downstream of the biological treatment unit (3) and eliminates salt-forming ionic components from within the wastewater. A pretreatment unit (2), which removes components, such as heavy metals or oil contained in the wastewater, which inhibit the function of the biological treatment unit (3) or the desalinization unit (4), is provided upstream of the biological treatment unit (3), and the pretreatment unit (2) is provided with a fluoride concentration reduction unit that reduces the concentration of fluoride ions in the wastewater by eliminating the fluoride ions from within the wastewater.
