  • Patent number: 4026805
Abstract: An apparatus for separating entrained solids and particularly paramagnetic filing entrained in a liquid, including a vessel with a fluid inlet and outlet, a center tube supported within the vessel over the fluid outlet, a plurality of magnetic discs received in spaced orientation on the center tube and a plurality of paramagnetic discs, each paramagnetic disc being positioned between adjacent magnetic discs and a barrier filter tube positioned around the discs, the top and bottom of the tube being closed so that all fluid flowing into the vessel flows radially through the filter tube, the magnetic and paramagnetic discs causing the formation of radially extending flux lines throughout the filter tube so that iron filings collect and orient radially on the exterior of the filter tube.

  • Patent number: 4025433
Abstract: A slotted pipe is rotatably supported in a drag tank and communicates with the suction line of a pump. Magnetic discs are rotatable with the pipe and serve to attract and catch magnetic particles in liquid flowing to the pipe so as to prevent such particles from entering the pump. A scraper is positioned adjacent the rotatable discs and pipe to brush the caught particles therefrom and direct the particles to the bottom of the tank.

  • Patent number: 4013063
Abstract: An implant to be situated in a vas deferens for reversibly preventing conception. A pair of open-ended tubular structures respectively have inner end regions adjacent but spaced from each other and fluid-tightly joined with a housing having an interior space through which fluid can flow between the pair of tubular structures. Within the housing are a plurality of fine particles capable of responding to magnetic forces. A permanent magnet is provided for attracting the particles to a conception-preventing position where the particles form a body of sufficient density to retain sperm while of insufficient density to prevent the sperm-carrying fluid from flowing through the body and through the tubular structures.

  • Patent number: 3991743
Abstract: Devices and methods for preventing conception as well as for general use in variable filtering. For preventing conception at least temporarily the devices and methods provide a selective flow for fluid in a vas deferens with sperm being acted upon at the flow path in a manner which will prevent fluid which flows beyond the selective flow path from carrying viable sperm in numbers sufficient for conception. By regulating the size of the selective flow it is possible to achieve a variable filtering or flow controlling action which is of general utility.

  • Patent number: 3959145
Abstract: A magnetic separator for removing contaminations from a liquid to which a ferromagnetic particulate material has been added is formed of a plurality of discs arranged along a shaft parallel to each other with spaces therebetween, the bottom parts of which dip into a container for the liquid. The discs contain permanent magnets of substantial coercive field strength over at least the greater part of their areas. The ferromagnetic material and contaminants carried thereby are scraped off the surface of the discs by belts which surround the shaft and which extend outside the discs to discharge the material scraped off of the discs.

  • Patent number: 3954611
Abstract: Disclosed is a portable apparatus and method for purifying lubricating oil in remotely separated devices, such as gearboxes and motors on oil well pumping equipment. The apparatus is mounted on a vehicle, such as a trailer, and has separate tanks thereon for holding volumes of oil. A flexible conduit on the apparatus is provided for selective connection to a device. Pump means are provided for removing the lubrication oil from the device and pumping it into one of the tanks on the apparatus. A liquid heater is provided in the apparatus for selective connection to the tanks. Appropriate valve and pump means are associated with the heater for use in circulating the oil through the heater to raise the temperature to between 150.degree. and 175.degree. F. A filtering apparatus is provided with appropriate valves and pump means for cleaning the heated oil.
