Abstract: A lifting mechanism for a sedimentation tank is provided for vertically raising and lowering a rake assembly in such sedimentation tank. The lifting mechanism comprises one or more elongate members pivotally connected to certain structural elements of the assemblage, such as the rotary drive motor, rake assembly, column or bridge. The pivotal connections of the elongate members are positioned about a horizontal axis and are oriented to receive the torque forces imposed on the assemblage as the rake assembly rotates in the tank simultaneously with vertical lifting. The torque forces are translated into the pivotal connections and are able to counteract those forces to facilitate vertically raising and lowering the rake assembly while it is being rotated in the sedimentation tank.

Abstract: A connecting means for a water flow appliance, for example a hand shower, contains a connecting element connected to a water guide, for instance, a house water mains. Arranged in the connecting element is a sieve element which can be shifted between a sieve position, in which it acts a sieve, and a cleaning position in which it is possible to remove the particles retained in the sieve element. The sieve position is always assumed when a connection is made to the connecting means. When this connection is removed the sieve element can be translated into the cleaning position for example by water pressure. • Patent number: 5928524
Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating immiscible liquids and solids from a influent stream employing a pre-coalescing unit to remove solids and larger liquid particles followed by a coalescing function which separates any remaining oil, grease and the like from the influent stream. The separator tank comprises three chambers, one of which comprises a series of debris plates made of perforated oleofilic material which traps solids and large particles in the first chamber and passes the partially separated liquid to a second chamber containing closely spaced coalescer plates which remove the remaining unwanted particles. In the third chamber, the effluent stream is prepared for reintroduction into the environment. • Patent number: 5258128
Abstract: A method for removing filter cake from a pressure filter element for liquid solid mixtures comprising an outer casing, a removable lid for closing the outer casing, a tubular filter element which projects from the lid into the outer casing and on the outside of which the filter cake is deposited, a membrane which during operation folds back between the outer casing and the filter element, a pressure joint on the outer casing and inlet and outlet of a pressure medium, an inlet line which conveys the liquid-solid mixture into the space between the membrane and the filter element and an outlet line which conveys the filtrate from the interior of the filter element. In order to split off small pieces of the filter cake from the filter element, a gaseous pressure medium is admitted into the filter cake formed on the outside of the filter element for as long as the filter cake is still completely or partly surrounded by the fold back membrane.

Abstract: A filtration apparatus provides for semiautomatic operation by including a filter element dispenser located at a filtration station. In order to effect removal of a used filter element from the filtration station, a tilting mechanism allows for tilting of a filtration stage which breaks or interrupts a vacuum which is otherwise continuously applied to the filtration station. In operation, the filter dispenser is manually rotated about a support to dispense a filter element in a filtration port at the filtration station. Next, a filtration cup which includes a filtration well is manually rotated about the support and positioned to be seated in the filtration port. After the filtration cup is seated in the filtration port a liquid to be filtered can be dispensed into the filtration well.

Abstract: A fuel contamination detection system for use in testing the contamination level of a fuel sample, wherein the system is selectively operable in a first mode as a particulate detector and in a second mode as a free water detector. A filter support slide includes two apertures and is adapted to support different sizes of filter elements over the apertures. In the particulate detector mode, the slide carries a pair of filter elements through which a fuel sample has been passed, wherein one filter element bears particulates from the sample. A particulate detection circuit includes an incandescent light and a photocell, between which the slide is moved to introduce one filter element and then the other, whereby a differential reading of their respective opacities is obtained and displayed. In the free water detector mode, only one aperture of the slide is used to carry a chemically treated water filter pad.
