  • Patent number: 8518251
Abstract: A strainer device (1) is described, which may be mounted on a pour-out of a container by way of fastening means (12) on a lower side (14) which may face the container (3). The strainer device (1) comprises a plurality of sieve elements (10) which are pivotably arranged on a sieve element holder (15) in a plane parallel to the lower side (14) of the strainer device (1), at least partly separated from one another by way of slots (11). As a whole a flexible, bendable comb-like strainer device (1) is formed, which is may be fastened with a fixation device (2) on the pour-out of the container in a simply releasable manner. The strainer device (1) is preferably designed of a heat-resistant plastic, wherein stainless steel may also be applied completely or partly for the design of the sieve elements (10) and/or the sieve element holder (15).

  • Patent number: 8518002
Abstract: A removable manifold for a medical/surgical waste collection system. The manifold is dimensioned to be mounted to a receiver integral with the system. The manifold includes a includes at least one fitting through which waste is drawn into the manifold. The fitting opens through an inlet port into a void space internal to the manifold. A backflow prevention valve is disposed in the manifold void space. The backflow prevention valve includes a static hub to which a driver for engaging a complementary valve internal to the receiver. The valve regulates flow between the receiver and the down line components of the waste collection system. The valve is normally closed. When the manifold is fitted to the receiver the driver engages the valve so as move the valve to the open position. This allows fluid flow from the manifold and receiver to the downstream components of the system.

  • Patent number: 8313644
Abstract: A portable vessel for fluids has an integrated filtration system. A pressing assembly fitted to the vessel includes a stopper, a rod having a top end and a filtration assembly. A vessel top receives the pressing assembly such that the rod of the pressing assembly is slidably attached to a bearing of the vessel top. A gasket attached to the filtration element maintains a seal between the inner surface of the vessel and an outer perimeter of the filtration assembly and the orientation of the rod is maintained by the gasket and the bearing. In use, pressure applied to the pressing assembly drives the filtration assembly through the vessel causing water to be filtered as it passes through the filter element.

  • Publication number: 20090114582
Abstract: An enclosure for containing a portable hemodialysis unit includes a housing suitable to support components for performing hemodialysis including a dialyzer, one or more pumps to circulate blood through the dialyzer, a source of dialysate, and one or more pumps to circulate the dialysate through the dialyzer. The housing may have a front panel at which blood circuit connections and dialysate fluidic connections are located, e.g., blood line connections for patient blood access, connections for a reagent supply, dialyzer connections for both blood flow and dialysate, etc. The enclosure may also include a pair of vertical, side-by-side doors hingedly mounted to the housing. With the doors in the closed position, access to the patient access and dialysate fluidic connections may be blocked, and the doors may allow for the retention of heat in the housing suitable for disinfection during a disinfection cycle.

  • Patent number: 6436283
Abstract: A self-contained, portable rainwater collecting and purifying system for collecting, filtering and disinfecting rainwater or other precipitation primarily for drinking purposes. In a preferred embodiment the portable rainwater collecting and purifying system is characterized by a housing which contains the system components. The bottom of the housing is typically fitted with skids or wheels, and a pair of sloped water collection panels is typically hinged to the housing for receiving the falling rainwater. A collection gutter receives the rainwater from the panels and drains the rainwater into a vertical standpipe fitted with a typically screen filter or filters. As the rising water in the standpipe eventually overflows, the overflowing, partially filtered water leaves the standpipe and enters a water collection tank through a hopper typically fitted with a gravity-flow filter or filters.

  • Patent number: 5855779
Abstract: A water purifier includes water filters and a storage tank for purified water, all contained within a housing. Access to the housing interior is afforded by means of a cover plate that is hinged to the housing along a lower edge of the cover plate. Mounted on the cover plate adjacent an upper edge thereof are two push-button actuated latches which releasably secure the cover plate to the housing. The latches are disposed at opposite sides of the cover plate and each latch comprises a plate spring that is inherently biased to a latching position. A push button is provided for each latch to enable a user to flex the latches to their unlatching positions.

  • Patent number: 5201264
Abstract: A cooking vessel includes a vessel body having a spill rim extending outwardly and bent around the vessel body. A vessel handle is attached to a wall of the vessel body. A cover than can be set closingly on the spill rim has at least one cover handle. The vessel body and the cover form a spill and ventilation appliance. To guarantee a defined venting and a simple, more reliable, and also defined pouring with more reliable handling, the wall of the vessel body in at least one peripheral region of its upper rim has a larger slope than in remaining peripheral region of the rim due to shortening the spill rim. A rim of the cover in at least one peripheral segment has at least one arch projecting in a radial direction slope when correspondingly positioning the cover through rotation. The remaining peripheral region of the vessel wall without the larger slope has a circumferential length that is at least as large as the peripheral segment of the cover having the at least one arch.
