Abstract: A tubular membrane module and its method of manufacture are disclosed wherein tubular membranes form an interference self-sealing fit with hard tube sheets with the aid of a hard hollow mandrel inserted at the end of the tubular membranes. The tubular membranes are comprised of porous, compressible PTFE and/or fluorocopolymers. The self-sealing method described herein requires no heat treatment, allows for ease of manufacture without destruction of the tubular membranes and without the processing complexity of utilizing any additional potting agent, extrusion, or chemical cross-linking of any polymeric adhesives. The self sealing PTFE tubular membranes have superb chemical resistance and temperature resistance, and through the benefits of this invention, offer higher pull-out resistance than typically observed with potting materials such as polyurethane and epoxy.

Abstract: A multi-ported vessel system includes an outer pressure vessel containing a plurality of flow distribution tubes, each of which comprises a plurality of reverse osmosis membrane elements aligned serially within each tube. The outer pressure vessel includes bypass flow paths whereby feed water flows around each of the tubes within the vessel. Slots are disposed in the flow distribution tubes at the upstream end of each RO membrane element such that feed water reaches all RO membrane elements of the tubes in parallel. The serial alignment of the membranes also allows for serial water processing also. A product water tube collects the purified water from the reverse osmosis elements and provides it to a product water port. Brine water is provided to an output port to be discarded of for further processing. The parallel processing of feed water by all membrane elements results in increased productivity and reduced costs.

Abstract: A vertical cylindrical dewatering apparatus for dewatering fibrous slurries, slurry of manure and water, or other similar slurries. The apparatus includes a housing that includes a defined chamber having an enclosed top end with a slurry injector into the chamber, a centrally disposed first filtering element that includes first and second flightings, and a second vertical cylindrical filtering element including a support grid. The first and second filtering elements define the chamber. The slurry in-flow port at the top of the apparatus directs the slurry spiraling down between the flightings. The particles start building up at the bottom of the chamber as the water is filtered out from the housing through filtrate drains. Compressed air supplied through a rotating seal down through the centrally disposed filtering element moves through the filter, and through the particles forcing the water from between the particles out through the outer filter element.
