Abstract: A double drum filter of the vacuum type which includes a pair of oppositely rotating foraminous surfaced drums having their foraminous surfaces in substantially abutting contact, the faces of the drums being connected to one another by means of baffle plates. The baffle plates preferably include sealing elements which abut the overflow edges of the faces. Other improvements include the combination of filter cake removal devices and cleansing nozzles which are positioned about the foraminous periphery of the drum in offset relation.

  • Patent number: 4066555
Abstract: An improved rotary filter is cylindrical in shape, and operates by vacuum suction or otherwise to withdraw fluids from a substance exposed to the outer area of the device, drawing said fluids into the filter to be pumped out to a suitable reservoir. It includes an inner cylindrical surface having attached thereon a plurality of selectively spaced support structures which extend longitudinally along the inner cylinder. Said support structures are covered with a plastic covering adapted to receive a filtering medium which forms the outer circumference of the rotary filter. In one embodiment the plastic covers are grooved to receive a spirally wound wire to further support said filtering medium.

  • Patent number: 4031013
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dewatering of cellulose pulp or other fiber suspensions. A suspension of relatively low solids concentration is passed into a sealed housing through an inlet, substantially filling the housing. The suspension is dewatered by bringing it into contact with perforated surfaces of a pair of drums or the like mounted for rotation about a vertical axis within the housing. Liquid from the suspension passes into an interior drum chamber, and at least a portion thereof is expelled from the housing through a liquid outlet. After passing a nip point between the two drums, the suspension has a higher solids concentration than the desired product suspension, and an amount of liquid is added thereto from the drum interior to dilute it to the final concentration.
