  • Patent number: 10865894
Abstract: A four-way valve for a backflush filter system comprises a valve body (3) and a rotating valve core (2) having a valve rod at one end of a central shaft. A valve core port IV (16) is arranged at the other end of the central shaft of the valve core (2). Three ports are arranged in the radial direction of the valve core (2): a valve core port I (13), a valve core port II (14) and a valve core port III (15). The valve body (3) encasing the valve core (2) also has four ports. Three radial ports are respectively a valve body port I (9), a valve body port II (10) and a valve body port III (11), and the other port is an axial valve body port IV (12). By increasing the sizes of the relevant ports and sealing end surfaces, the four-way valve solves the problems that a backflush effect is affected by insufficient inflow rate during backflush of a four-way valve in the prior art, the distribution of the relative positions of three ports of the valve body is single, and sealing is difficult.

  • Patent number: 10821383
Abstract: An apparatus and method prevent entrained solids from entering a pump by directing a process stream through an active upstream filter that removes the solids, and then through a downstream idle filter where the process stream purges the filter of previously retained solids. The flow path is periodically switched to exchange the roles of the filters, so that none of the filters is saturated, and the solids remain in the process flow but bypass the pump. Any need for a low pressure destination for purged solids and purging fluid and/or any environmental impact of dumping process fluid and solids into the environment is thereby avoided. Partially opened valves can be used to divert only part of the downstream flow for filter purging. Selectable paths can be included for which no filters are purged. The downstream flow can be divided and used to simultaneously purge a plurality of idle filters.

  • Patent number: 9827516
Abstract: A pressure filtration system for cleaning residual quenching water of a gasifying device that gasifies carbon-containing fuels under elevated pressure is provided. The soot water from the quencher is passed to a filter system, which has pressure filter chambers operating alternately in filtering mode under gasifying pressure or in cleaning mode. The filtrate from these chambers is passed to a quenching water reservoir, from which the quencher is fed with quenching water. Only small temperature and pressure losses with respect to the residual quenching water leaving, and only a small additional amount of energy has to be expended to overcome the remaining pressure difference to bring the filtrate that is to be returned back to the gasifying pressure. The residual quenching water is cleaned substantially under gasifying pressure in a pressure filter, avoids flash evaporation of the residual quenching water into the vacuum area, with vapour cooling and a subsequent increase in pressure and reheating.

  • Patent number: 7105090
Abstract: A filter has three filter elements, e.g., screens, for trapping particulate material while allowing passage of a fluid. The second sides of each of the first and second screens are connected to an intermediate passage, and the second side of the third screen, and the intermediate passage, are connected to a filter outlet port. The filter has two alternately selectable configurations. In a first configuration, the first side of the first screen is connected to a filter inlet port, and the first side of the second screen is connected to the first side of the third screen. In the second configuration the first side of the second screen is connected to the inlet port, and the first side of the first screen is connected to the first side of the third screen. The first and second screens alternately filter particulates which are subsequently flushed and then trapped by the third screen for periodic removal.

  • Patent number: 7052610
Abstract: Modules of ultrafiltration or microfiltration membranes are arranged in a tank open to the atmosphere to substantially cover the cross sectional area of the tank. A filtration cycle has permeation steps and deconcentration steps. During permeation, supply of feed substantially equals feed removed and little if any aeration is used. During deconcentration, aeration with scouring bubbles is provided with one or both of backwashing and feed flushing. In feed flushing, feed water is supplied to the tank from below the modules. Excess tank water created during deconcentration flows generally upwards through the modules and out through a retentate outlet or overflow at the top of the tank.

Abstract: A backflushing filter for filtering oil includes filter candles 22 which are open at both ends 24, 34 and disposed around a rotary shaft 1 in a filter housing. A cleaning device is moved in conjunction with the rotary shaft and includes upper and lower flushing cocks communicating with an outflow valve via the shaft for cleaning the candles during a backflushing operation. The upper flushing cock 27 is offset by an angle in the direction of rotation in relation to the lower flushing cock 37. A lower closure element 38 moves in conjunction with the upper flushing cock at the opposite end of a filter candle(s) selected for backflushing. Likewise, an upper closure element is associated with the lower flushing cock. The candles can be reverse-flushed in opposite directions and at different times by the flushing cocks and closure elements. The flushing cocks and closure elements are moved inside annular deflection hoods 60, 70.

The flow rate of permeate in filtration of the spiral wound membrane element is preferably set to 0.5 to 2.0 m3/m2/day, and the filtration time is preferably set to 10 to 300 minutes. The flow rate of wash water in washing is preferably set to 1.0 to 4.0 m3/m2/day, and the washing time is preferably set to 10 to 300 seconds. • Patent number: 6827864
Abstract: A filtering apparatus and method comprises parallel filtering elements backflushable with the pressure of the filtered flow. At least one washing organ connecting alternately to the different filtering elements, forms a discharge channel for the washing flow. A freewheel clutch is connected to a rotating axle of the washing organ, converting reciprocating movement generated with the pressure of flow in the filtering apparatus and with pressure alternating with it into a continuously parallel, stepping rotary movement of the washing organ. The mechanism containing the clutch may be outside the filtering room of the apparatus, and based on the alternation of the higher pressure of the flow filtered in the apparatus and the lower pressure from the discharge channel. The freewheel clutch is articulated to a piston in the cylinder, and is moved back and forth with the pressure difference, controlled by the channels relaying the pressure and by the valves.

  • Patent number: 6799687
Abstract: A backflush filter device for filter elements (22) is incorporated in a filter housing (10)having a filter inlet (18) and an outlet (20) for the liquid to be filtered. The filter elements (22) permit flow in both directions for a filtration, or backflush. One filter element (22) may be performing a filtration and, simultaneously, at least one other filter element (22) may be backflushed to clean its effective filtration surface. To assist the backflushing, a vacuum device (42) is provided. The vacuum device generates a vacuum at the filter element (22) to be backflushed. The efficacy of the ongoing backflush is increased to be able to remove even the toughest contaminants. The cleaning process uses little energy and occurs in a defined manner, such that the backflush volumes may be both specified and minimized.

Abstract: An apparatus is described for withdrawing filtered permeate from a substrate contained in a reservoir at ambient pressure. The apparatus includes a plurality of membrane assemblies. Each assembly has a plurality of hollow fiber filtering membranes, immersed in the reservoir, at least one permeating header with the membranes sealingly secured therein, and a permeate collector to collect the permeate sealingly connected to the at least one permeating header and in fluid communication with lumens of the membranes. The membranes of each assembly extend generally vertically upwards from a first header during permeation. One or more sources of suction are provided in fluid communication with the lumens of the membranes of each assembly through the permeate collectors and apply sufficient suction to withdraw permeate from the lumens of the membranes. An aeration system for discharging bubbles assists in keeping the membranes clean.
