Abstract: A mud cleaning apparatus is set forth and has an upstanding cylindrical housing supported by a frame work with legs. There is a mud inlet line at the top of the housing. Centrally, a motor drives a drive shaft extending vertically in the housing and supporting cascaded circular screens which are rotated. Each screen has mesh openings to remove particles of particular size and mud flows through that screen into a funnel there below and is directed by the funnel into the next screen. Typically, three screens and three funnels are included wherein the bottom funnel connects with an outlet mud line to remove the clean mud. Trash removed from mud flow collects on the screens which are rotated, and such motion couple with vibration imparted to the screens causes the trash to migrate across the screens for ejection from the screens and accumulation in the bottom of the cylindrical housing and removal on a conveyor system.

The liner plate is formed in such a manner that an outer arcuate face has a depression formed therein so that a filter placed in the depression permits water flow therethrough, but prevents the passage of surrounding soil particles therethrough. Suitable conduit means allow any water which may pass through the filter to be bled through the liner plate and led out of the tunnel.

  • Patent number: 4392422
Abstract: In the embodiments of the web press disclosed in the specification, a pair of webs carries suspension material partly about a series of press drums of decreasing diameter in a first pressing section. One of the webs carrying the suspension material passes to a second press section where a further web replaces the other of the pair of webs to provide the inner web in a path around a press drum. Increased pressure is applied by a pressure belt to the webs as they pass around the press drum in the second pressing section.

  • Patent number: 4330404
Abstract: A cell filter having a series of filtering cells and a distributor for collecting and adjusting the distribution of fluids passing through the cell filtering surface. Each cell has a planar filtering bed composed of a filtering cloth bearing on a rigid apertured support. Fluid passes through the cloth onto the cell bottom which slants toward a drain channel. The drain channel slants toward a discharge duct connected to a distributor. Guide members in the distributor fractionate, divide, and direct the fluid flowing towards the discharge duct into two parallel adjacent streams. The guide members are a series of baffle plates, located along the top length of the drain channel. The baffle plates are slanted, the plate farthest from the low end of the drain channel having the steepest slant.

  • Patent number: 4322295
Abstract: A fluid filtration apparatus including a filter packet enclosed by a container and comprised of a filtering element arranged on a hollow shaft through which filtrate is removed. The filtration apparatus also includes a seal arrangement to prevent filtrate from reentering into the space containing the fluid to be filtered. The seal and/or the part including the seal surface can be moved to form a gap to prevent damage of the seal during cleaning of the filtering elements.

  • Patent number: 4172791
Abstract: A cell filter having a collecting part divided into chambers and compartments and provided with cavities. Each compartment is provided on the one hand at the bottom thereof with at least one liquid-discharge outlet lying substantially below that level where the cavities open and on the other hand, above the liquid top level, with at least one passageway towards a gas-sucking device in such a way as to suck the gases while causing the gases and liquids to separate and go along different paths inside the compartments, means being provided to return to the original compartment those liquids which might have entered the passageways so as on the one hand, obtain at the distributor outlet, liquid-free gases and on the other hand, collect through the discharge openings only liquids which are substantially free from undissolved gases.

  • Patent number: 4116842
Abstract: A filtering apparatus comprises a housing defining a generally closed chamber in which is provided a hollow rotatable shaft that carries a plurality of filter elements. Each of these elements is formed as an upwardly dished fluid-impervious metal plate formed with a central hole through which the hollow shaft passes and having a concave upper face formed with an array of spaced-apart bosses. A fluid-pervious filter cloth lies on the plate directly against the bosses so as to be spaced from the plate between the bosses. A ring secured to the smooth edge of each plate secures the respective filter cloth in place.

  • Patent number: 4104169
Abstract: A filter has a housing defining a closed chamber around a hollow shaft which is rotatable in the housing and which carries a plurality of filter elements so that fluid can be pumped through the filter elements into the hollow interior of the shaft. The shaft is rotatable with the filter elements relative to the housing for cleaning filter cake off the filter elements between filtering operations. An annular and hollow bellows-type seal surrounds the shaft and has one axial end secured to the housing and an opposite axial end engageable with the shaft for sealing the shaft relative to the housing. This bellows-type seal is made of thin and flexible stainless steel. The inside of the seal may be pressurized by a liquid or gas to force the end of the seal against the shaft and form a tight connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4087362
Abstract: A filter housing is disclosed. It is preferably used to house membrane filters supported on plates. The base, top and a two-way cap cooperate to form a pressure-tight vessel. The top can be moved vertically to permit use of various numbers of filters and support plates in the housing without requiring spacers or spacer tubes. The structure of the housing is such that all surfaces exposed to liquid are free of screw threads or other surface configurations which are not readily sanitizable or sterilizable, particularly by autoclaving. Also, since the tightening mechanism is outside the filter enclosure, the filters can be sterilized by autoclaving and subsequently tightened into position.

  • Patent number: 3994813
Abstract: A hollow upright shaft is surrounded at axially spaced locations by spacer rings. Intermediate these rings the shaft is surrounded by substantially horizontally oriented plate-shaped filter elements which rotate with the shaft. Each filter element has a liquid-impermeable annular plate the upper surface of which carries a filter material. The inner circumference of the plate is formed with a downwardly extending stepped collar which is received in the subjacent spacer ring and thus centers the filter element with reference to the ring and to the shaft. The latter has openings in its periphery through which filtered liquid can flow into the interior of the shaft, to be led away.
