  • Patent number: 6875352
Abstract: A module filter has a container with an admission for a non-filtrate and a discharge for the filtrate. A filter module is arranged in the container and has several stacked, disc-shaped filter cells of filter material having an inner space. The filter cells have central openings forming a central channel connected with the inner space. The central channel is connected to the admission. The container has a space surrounding the filter cells and connected with the filtrate discharge. Circular disc-shaped drainage support bodies are arranged between the filter cells and extend approximately over the entire surface area of the filter cells. The drainage support bodies have drainage channels that extend toward their outer rim. The drainage support bodies have projections projecting axially away from the drainage support bodies and extending radially. The membrane packs can be stacked within a group of tying members (234, FIG. 10 ), and can be compressed by a compressor (280, FIG.

Abstract: An apparatus for multiple fluid phase separation (10) includes a housing (12) having a second chamber (21) positioned above a first chamber (19). A plurality of filter disks (22) are mounted upon a rotatable vertical shaft assembly (24) in spaced stacked relation within the first chamber (19). The shaft assembly (24) includes a first interior channel (30) and a second interior channel (32). A bulk solution including two immiscible phases is introducted, under pressure, into the first chamber (19) through an entry pipe (33). The heavier phase is filtrated through the disks (22), enters the first interior channel (30), and is channelled to an exit port (32). Bulk solution having a reduced proportion of heavier fluid phase flows through radial openings (96) in the shaft assembly (24) located between the disks (22) into the second interior channel (32) and up into the second chamber (21).

  • Patent number: 4936986
Abstract: A nonclogging rotary disk filter is disclosed. The invention has relief holes provided in rotatable disks such that oil, other liquids, and gases may be separated from a liquid while the disks are rotated at high speeds. The relief holes are located close to the rotatable shaft supporting the disks. When the disks are rotated at high speeds, lighter liquids, oil, and gas bubbles tend to migrate to the area near the shaft which has relatively low centrifugal forces. In a gravitational field, the relief holes allow the lighter liquids, oil, and gas bubbles to migrate upwardly through the disks for removal. The disks are rotated fast enough to establish a barrier layer in a liquid over a working area of the disk surface having a surface velocity greater than 15 feet per second.

The rotor is rotatable about a shaft extending therethrough and vertical with respect to the surfaces of the media, and allowes a liquid to flow in a direction parallel with the shaft. The system also includes a feed inlet passage provided to the primary chamber at a position adjacent to the shaft, a feed inlet passage located at a position around and adjacent to the media, and a filtrate outlet passage provided to the secondary chamber.

Abstract: A plate-type filter that is provided with a sealing element that is disposed in the flow path of liquid that is to be filtered and seals off the in-flow region relative to the filling space of the filter housing. The sealing element is movable into its sealing position under the pressure of in-flowing liquid. The sealing element is therefore in the sealing position only when liquid is flowing in. When the filter elements are rotated for centrifuging off the filter cake, the sealing element is no longer in its sealing position due to the absence of liquid pressure, so that the sealing element is not stressed during the centrifuging process.
