Internal Work Distributor Patents (Class 210/377)
  • Patent number: 5227057
Abstract: The present invention is a centrifuge device which separates chips or shreds of containers from whatever liquid residue remains within these containers. Though this technology is suitable for a number of applications, a primary objective is the separation of the recyclable plastic of a motor oil container from the remaining re-usable motor oil within the container after the container has ostensibly been emptied. It is an objective to accomplish this in an economically advantageous manner which uses neither a solvent nor a wash process, and which reclaims the oil in a suitable form for reprocessing. In its preferred embodiment, the present invention may be utilized as a compact, free-standing size reduction and reclaiming device at the location where the container is used, such as in automotive service stations, and the like. In a second embodiment, production units may be used in plastic reclaiming plants where large quantities of a given plastic container are being centrally processed.

  • Patent number: 5089108
Abstract: The Strainer has a pipe with a multiplicity of holes, and surrounded by a mass of stones or marbles, confined within a double nylon netting. The pipe confines a one-way check valve. The mass of stones or marbles serves a dual purpose: weighting of the Strainer, and ancillary filtering of the fluid. The stones or marbles are of approximately three-quarters of an inch in diameter and, consequently, they have a multitudinous number of interstices which are not less than three-sixteenth of an inch in width, length and depth. These present virtually unlimited pathways, of gross dimensions, for the extraction of water.

  • Patent number: 5013460
Abstract: A method and apparatus provide for the effective centrifugal washing and/or thickening of paper pulp, using a perforated cylinder. A stock head box, located within the cylinder, applies a thin sheet of pulp on the interior the cylinder, at a high rate (e.g. about 20 meters per second), at a first arcuate position. The cylinder is rotated at high speed (e.g. 100 rpm, to provide an acceleration on the order of about 10 gs), whereby centrifugal force causes liquid in the pulp to move radially outwardly through the openings in the screen cylinder. The pulp is withdrawn from the interior of the cylinder by a vacuum roll or the like at a second arcuate position less than 360.degree. from the first position. The withdrawn pulp is moved by a screw conveyor or the like away from the cylinder in a dimension generally parallel to the axis of rotation, and the withdrawn liquid passes through channels in a drum surrounding the perforated cylinder, and is engaged by an impeller, and flows to a volute for removal.

Abstract: A non-blinding filter system for batch centrifuges utilizes a high speed injection nozzle to input wet particulate matter in the form of a slurry into a batch centrifuge in a manner that maintains turbulence within the slurry during the filling operation. Submicron particulate fines are suspended in the filtrate and settle out less rapidly than larger diameter particulate matter, thus a layer of coarser material can be laid over the filter media before the majority of the filtrate passes therethrough. A plurality of metering orifices retard the extraction of the filtrate such that the submicron particles are not forced through the layer of coarser material to the filter media with blinding consequences.

  • Patent number: 4687572
Abstract: A centrifugal filter separator system operable to separate from oil under pressure, contaminants and water. The centrifuged water port of the centrifugal filter separator of the system is coupled to a differential pressure responsive, sensor control, which automatically senses the presence of a layer of centrifuged water against the internal surface of the rotating drum of the centrifugal separator. The sensor control is coupled to a flow control circuit which in conjunction with the differential pressure sensor control causes automatic removal of an existing layer of centrifuged water from the rotating drum via the water exit port of the separator. When there is no adequate depth layer of centrifuged water on the inner surface of the rotating drum, the sensor control deactivates the water removal circuit, while the flow control circuit maintains a minimum generally constant flow of liquid from the water port of the separator for priming purposes.

  • Patent number: 4492631
Abstract: A centrifugal separator for separating contaminants from contaminated oil has an outer casing and a rotor within that casing mounted for rotation about a vertical axis. Oil under pressure enters the rotor at one end and at the other end exits through jets into a chamber within the casing which is normally filled with air. As the jets of oil impinge upon the inner wall of the casing, a small amount of air becomes entrained in the oil and as the oil flows to a sump, the air is gradually removed from the interior of the casing. In order to prevent a build-up of oil within the casing, which could interfere with rotation of the rotor, air under pressure is supplied to the interior of the casing by means of a float-operated valve member so that while the valve member is normally closed, any increase in the oil level will cause the float to rise with that oil level and thereby open the valve to allow additional air to enter into the interior of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4098696
Abstract: This invention discloses oil purifying means suitable for installation in any gear assembly that includes a gear supported in a stationary housing for rotation about an axis and having a generally planar surface extending radially from the axis. The purifying means includes first means arranged during rotation of the gear, to direct a supply of lubricating oil onto the surface so that the oil is centrifuged outwardly and into second means forming an annular cavity adjacent the peripheral region of the gear. The cavity has an inwardly directed opening providing separate inlet and outlet fluid flow paths arrange so that, during rotation of the gear, lubricating oil is centrifuged through the inlet into the cavity wherein the direction of oil is reversed so that the oil exhausts through the outlet and contaminent particles in the oil are retained in the cavity due to centrifugal force.
