Belt Type Patents (Class 210/400)
  • Patent number: 4915850
Abstract: Method and apparatus for separating and recovering a granulate from a viscous suspension containing the graulate. The suspension is placed in a layer on an endless sieve belt guided around return rollers and effecting a separation into a sieve residue of the granulate which remains behind on the belt, and a stream of material passing through the belt. The stream of material is collected between the forward and backward runs of the sieve conveyor belt. The separated granulate is dumped from the conveyor belt. As the layer of the granulate containing suspension is dispensed on the sieve conveyor belt, at least one free edge extending across the sieve conveyor belt is formed and maintained. A stream of air passes downwardly through the sieve conveyor belt.

Abstract: A dewatering method and apparatus is disclosed which uses a ramp at one end of a perforate conveyor in which the incline of the ramp may be adjusted while the dewatering operation is taking place. The ramp receives material to be further dewatered after the material has moved along the length of the perforate conveyor. • Patent number: 4692240
Abstract: The separation of a first solid component from a mixture thereof with a liquid and a second solid component which is of smaller average particle size than the first solid component, the first and second solid components being in suspension in the liquid and with the percentage by mass of the second solid component being substantially greater than that of the first solid component, by means of a travelling endless cloth. The cloth passes through an operative separating region in a horizontal manner. The mixture is fed onto substantially the entire operative separating region from a feed box that has a floor with apertures therein; the floor being located above the cloth. The liquid and second solid component pass through the cloth, to be collected by a trough. The first solid component remains on the cloth and is subsequently removed and collected.

  • Patent number: 4685361
Abstract: An improved machine tool includes a chip conveyor assembly which includes a conveyor and a coolant tank. The chip conveyor assembly is movable between a closed or operating position and an open or exposed position. In the closed position, the chip conveyor assembly is disposed directly beneath a work area so that chips fall onto the conveyor. The chips are transported through an opening at one end of the machine tool to a discharge area where the chips are deposited in a suitable receptacle. To facilitate maintenance of the chip conveyor assembly, the entire chip conveyor assembly is movable through an opening in the front of the machine tool to an open position in which the components of the conveyor are accessible.

  • Patent number: 4671874
Abstract: An apparatus and method for dewatering sludges and the like as part of landfill operations by electrokinetic techniques including placing anode and cathode electrode modules in contact with the sludge and applying electrical energy to the electrodes to establish an electric field in the sludge. Charged particles within the sludge, including macro-molecules, colloids, and suspended particles, elecrophoretically migrate to the oppositely charged counter electrode and consolidate. A filtration media located at one of the electrodes permits the electro-osmotic removal of water from the sludge to encourage solids densification. The electrical energy applied to the electrodes is a chopped, time-varying, intermittent unidirectional current having a rapid rise edge which provides dewatering results comparable to prior methods that used direct current or full AC current but at substantially reduced energy consumption to provide more economical dewatering.

  • Patent number: 4671876
Abstract: A belt filter device mounted on a frame carrying an endless conveyor belt has a casing arranged below an upper run of the belt, and application of subatmospheric pressure to interior regions of the casing causes liquid to be withdrawn from material lying on the conveyor belt through drainage holes provided in the belt. The casing is pivotal with respect to the frame between a first, operational position and a second, cleaning position, and a separating means shifts the casing away from a cover or support means simultaneously with movement of the casing from its operational position toward its position for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 4664813
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dewatering and drying sludge. A pair of upper and lower members form a closed chamber into which sludge is poured. Sidewalls of the upper member are pressed against the lower member to seal the chamber. Compressed air supplied at a pressure P.sub.1 to a continuous groove in the lower edge of the sidewalls flows across the sloped inside surfaces of the sidewalls and supplements air supplied to the chamber at a somewhat lower pressure level P.sub.2, the combined pressures P.sub.1 and P.sub.2 in said chamber forcing liquid from said sludge through porous media in the bottom of the chamber. Air from the continuous groove aids in releasing the dried sludge from the chamber when the upper and lower members are separated.
