Patent number: 10335714Abstract: The liquid recovery filter includes several embodiments, each of which provides for the recovery of liquid otherwise trapped within the filter housing and element. Each embodiment includes a series of vents, purge ports, and passages that communicate fluidly with the filter housing and filter core. Certain vents and purge ports are initially opened following filtration operations to allow pressurized gas to flow into the housing, thereby forcing residual unfiltered liquid through the filter. When this has been accomplished, another vent is opened to the filter core to allow filtered liquid to flow from the downstream or outlet passage from the filter core. Some embodiments have the filter outlet located above the filter, and include a downstream drain port extending from the filter core. The downstream drain port provides for the recovery of filtered liquid when the vent or purge port is opened in these embodiments.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2017Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: SAINT-GOBAIN PERFORMANCE PLASTICS CorporationInventors: ZhenWu Lin, Jacob Andrews

Patent number: 7188732Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of liquid cleaners, consisting of a cleaner housing with a cleaning chamber exhibiting an inner and an outer end, and a cleaning insert arranged inside the cleaning chamber. The cleaner housing is given a conical shape such that the cleaning chamber receives a smaller lateral dimension at its inner end than at its outer end, said outer end being openable. The cleaning insert is manufactured from a fluid-permeable, compressible cleaning material with a lateral dimension that in an initial state, outside the cleaner housing, exceeds the smaller lateral dimension of the cleaning chamber. The other end of the cleaner housing is kept open, and the cleaning insert is inserted into said other end having the larger lateral dimension, and is pressed into the cleaning chamber towards the end having the smaller lateral dimension.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2003Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Inventor: Aegir Bjornsson

Patent number: 6827846Abstract: A T-handle for a filter includes an integral mechanical indicator. The T-handle indicator has a threaded portion that extends through a hole in the filter cover and retains the cover to a canister. The indicator includes a spring-biased button that provides a visual indication of whether the element needs to be replaced. The button is received in a body that is open to the pressure on the downstream side of the filter element. A pair of clips on the button engage the indicator body to retain the button in the inward (element change) position. The clips can be accessed when the T-handle indicator is removed from the filter to return the button to the outward (fresh element) position. The indicator button includes an axially-elongated slot extending radially through the button, and the body includes a corresponding pair of holes on opposite sides of the slot.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2001Date of Patent: December 7, 2004Assignee: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventor: Steven R. Patent number: 6679990Abstract: A filter assembly includes a bowl assembly and a head member enclosing a filter cartridge. A filter center tube is permanently fixed to the bowl but allowed to rotate within a pocket in the bottom of the bowl. The top of the center tube is threaded for fastening to a stud on the filter mounting head. The center tube cannot be threaded onto the stud without the filter assembled over the center tube and into the bowl. In order to assemble the bowl to the head, the operator must turn the outside of the bowl. If a filter is not present, the bowl will turn independently of the center tube and no torque is transmitted to the threads. When the filter is properly installed, a series of tabs or features spaced around the inner perimeter of the wall of the bowl interlock with corresponding grooves or features in the outside diameter of the end cap of the filter. Tabs or features on the outer diameter of the center tube also interlock with grooves or features in the inside diameter of the end cap.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2001Date of Patent: January 20, 2004Assignee: Dana CorporationInventor: David Matthew Reinhart
