  • Patent number: 11142758
Abstract: Provided herein are methods for the collection and amplification of circulating nucleic acids from a non-celluar fraction of a biological sample. Circulating nucleic acids are extracted from the non-cellular fraction and are circularized to generate single-stranded nucleic acid circles, which are then subsequently amplified by rolling circular amplification using random primers to produce an amplified library. Devices for the collection of a non-cellular fraction from a biological sample are also provided. The device includes a filtration membrane and a dry solid matrix, which is in direct contact with the filtration membrane.

Abstract: An air filter has a housing, a filter core, a resilient abutting element, a sleeve, a threaded rod bracket, a threaded rod and a nut. The axial sealing is achieved by axially compressing the resilient abutting element, such that the user does not have to apply much physical effort to compress the resilient abutting element. The user can easily push the filter core into the housing, and then rotates and tightens the nut, which can axially compress the resilient abutting element. It is easy to apply force on rotating the nut, and better still, the nut can be rotated by an electric tool, which further facilitates the convenience in assembling. Besides, the nut only abuts the sleeve, and the threaded rod bracket does not abut the filter core. Consequently, the filter core is not blocked, thereby making the air smoothly pass through the filter core.

Once engaged, the annular ring arrangements form a coefficient of friction between the end cap(s) and the shell to create a substantially water-tight seal between the end cap(s) and the shell of the filtration cartridge. Annular locking arrangements may be included in addition to, or in lieu of, the annular ring arrangements to lock the end cap(s) to the shell when the filtration cartridge is utilized in high-pressure applications.

  • Patent number: 8932465
Abstract: A filter within a filter cartridge design is described that includes a sealing structure on an endplate of an outer filter element. Generally, the sealing structure includes an annular flange on the endplate that can directly seal against an interior surface of a housing when the filter cartridge is assembled for use. During filtration, the annular flange prevents a working fluid from bypassing the outer filter element. The sealing flange can seal with the housing in a press fit engagement.

Abstract: A filter module includes a filter element with a ring of media and an end cap at one end of the ring. The end cap includes an annular body with a sealing member located around a surface of the body circumscribing a central opening, wherein the sealing member has a repeating, undulating, non-planar geometry. The axial, distal end of the annular body also has an repeating, undulating non-planar geometry, matching the geometry of the sealing member, and can have one or more tabs projecting axially outward from the distal end, positioned at a point of maximum amplitude of the distal end, and which are received in cooperating slots formed in a socket of a diaphragm, to facilitate positioning and installing the element into the module. The socket includes an outer wall having a matching non-planar geometry which receives and seals against the sealing member on the end cap.
