The filtration media includes a first end that extends to a second end through an intermediate portion having an exterior surface and an interior surface that defines a hollow core. At least one retention device is adhered to the exterior surface of the filtration media. The at least one retention device is configured and disposed to limit radial movement of the filtration media. The filter cartridge is devoid of an internal core support provided within the hollow core thereby establishing a coreless filter cartridge.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2010Publication date: January 19, 2012Applicant: GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANYInventors: Jason Mei, James Roy Doehla, Bryan David Yetter

Patent number: 8070960Abstract: A method of dewatering a solids laden waste stream, whereby the slurry is pumped into a vertical filter retaining structure and the liquid is allowed to flow out through the pores of the filtration element while retaining the solids within the structure. After the solids have dewatered, doors or gates located at the bottom of the structure are opened and the solids drop out the bottom by gravity. The structure is elevated to allow a transport vehicle to be placed under the doors prior to dropping out the solids. One embodiment utilizes an open bottom, closed top filter bag that is closed off by the doors or sliding gates located at the bottom of the structure. Another embodiment disclosed would use rigid filter plates to retain the solids and drop out the accumulated solids by opening sliding gates at the bottom of the structure. The filter bag or plates is accessible from the side to allow either manual or automatic pressure washing of the filtration elements or filter bag after each dewatering cycle.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2008Date of Patent: December 6, 2011Inventor: Michael K. Patent number: 7998349Abstract: The present invention relates to a device having two or more separate filtration layers that can be independently tested for integrity yet which allow for serial filtration through the two or more layers to obtain the desired characteristics such as retention. The device is made of two or more filtration areas, each containing one filter layer. Each area has one filtration layer and a first endcap bonded to a first end of the filter and a second endcap bonded to a second end of the filter. The areas are arranged concentrically around each other such that the first area is inward of the second area which is inward of a third area and the like. Each area is formed separately and integrity tested separately before final assembly. The first area is slid into the inside of the second area and then the two endcaps are either bonded to each, bonded to a third overall endcap or overmolded by a third endcap.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2006Date of Patent: August 16, 2011Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventor: Kevin Rautio
