Abstract: The present invention is directed to rigid filtration apparatus comprising a filter support and filter membrane. Such filter support is comprised of a central core. Radiating from the central core are a plurality of pleats composed of two angled walls terminating at a contact point. Such longitudinal walls circumscribe a longitudinal channel situated between the walls wherein the longitudinal channel is in communication with the central core. The longitudinal walls are comprised of a plurality of openings along the walls. A filter membrane having biocidal components may be utilized with the filter support to effectively treat contaminated fluid, gas or air. Alternatively, the composition of the rigid central core and the rigid pleats may be composed of different materials to selectively remove chemicals, biological components or pharmaceuticals in a multi-stage treatment process.

Abstract: A filter assembly includes a header, a bowl and a replaceable filter element. The bowl is indexed to have a single installed orientation with respect to the header. The filter element is keyed and indexed to both the bowl and the header, with index structures on the filter element engaging complementary coding structures on both the bowl and the header to define a single installed orientation of the filter element with respect to the filter assembly. The filter element lower end cap includes a notch and the filer media defines a longitudinal channel corresponding in position and configuration to the notch in the lower end cap. The lower end cap and channel in the filter media engage a protrusion inside the bowl. The bowl maintains angular orientation (prevents twisting) of the upper and lower end caps when the filter media is exposed to high differential pressures.

  • Patent number: 8051989
Abstract: A support structure of a filter element for supporting a filter material that is adapted to filter a fluid includes a first frame portion and a second frame portion. The first frame portion has a plurality of radially-extending fingers that are longitudinally spaced from one another. The first frame portion is disposed entirely on an unfiltered side of the filter material. A second frame portion has a pair of longitudinally-extending support surfaces that are disposed in a spaced, facing relationship with respect to one another. The second frame portion is disposed entirely on a filtered side of the filter material. The radially-extending fingers of the first frame portion and each of the longitudinally-extending support surfaces of the second frame portion support the filter material to define a first radial channel. The radially-extending fingers of the first frame portion space the longitudinally-extending support surfaces of the second frame portion apart from one another.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of making a solid-liquid filtration cloth, a solid-liquid filtration cloth, and a filter in which the solid-liquid filtration cloth is arranged. The filter cloth (7) is provided with yarns (13b) having a highly changing length and a long free run in the weave. When the length of the yarns (13b) is allowed to shorten significantly, a filtration portion (15) on the side of a surface (14) of the cloth obtains a corrugated shape, providing the cloth with a large filtering area.

  • Patent number: 7918996
Abstract: The invention is a particle and sediment filter for stormwater. A long permeable filter bag is laid out horizontally within an enclosure. The bag is formed of at least two layers of parallel tubes that give each layer the pleated look of a typical air mattress. Stormwater is collected from the filter bag by perforated pipes held within the creases between the tubes of the layers of the bag, with the pipes draining to the outside of the enclosure. The bag is also supported above the bottom of the enclosure by additional perforated pipes located within the creases between the tubes, thus allowing the filtered liquid to also drain off beneath the bag. The stormwater input is from a pipe that feeds a manifold formed in the bag and connected to each tube. The top of the enclosure is removable for replacing the filter. The filter bags are constructed of flexible material so that they are flat during initial transport and installation, but they expand as they are filled with liquid and solid material.

The pleated filter media spans laterally along a lateral span along a lateral direction, with the wall segments being spaced from each other by lateral gaps. The pleats have a pleat depth along the transverse direction along the wall segments between the first and second sets of pleat tips. The pleat depth varies as the pleated filter media spans laterally along the lateral direction.
