  • Patent number: 6358416
Abstract: A drain valve for a fuel filter water separator for an internal combustion engine has a first port mating with the vent opening of the separator, a second port mating with the drain opening of the separator, and a third port. The drain valve is actuatable between a closed position blocking communication of the first port with the third port and blocking communication of the second port with the third port, and an open position providing communication of the first port with the third port and providing communication of the second port with the third port. If the valve is actuated to the open position when the engine is off, collected water and vent air each flow through the third port but in opposite directions. If the drain valve is actuated while the engine is running, pressurized fuel spray from the vent opening and collected water from the drain opening of the separator each flow through the third port in the same direction.

  • Patent number: 6106708
Abstract: A partition includes a float on its upper edge and a partition which divides the inside of a container into two compartments. The perimeter of the partition contacts the walls and bottom of the container using a U-frame that is provided with three flexible bands. In one of the compartments, anchored on a support, are filters arranged together with the supports. An external pump transfers liquid from the bottom of one compartment to the bottom of the other compartment and channels the liquid between the flexible bands and below the partition in a uniform and calibrated manner over its entire length. At the same time, liquid passes from this second compartment to the first one above the float. The float meters and calibrates the liquid flow over its entire length, thereby generating a surface stream which discharges into the filters.

The spray element is arranged so that at least part of the water flow is sprayed on to the inner wall surfaces of the vessel (21) which, in operation, surround the air-filled part and together with this part produce a curtain of water which substantially covers the inner wall surfaces.

Abstract: The present invention includes a compact drive system comprising a housing, a motor, a worm screw, a first gear, an internal gear, a second gear and an output gear. The motor is supported relative to the housing and the worm screw is driven by the motor. The first gear rotates about a central axis and is driven by the worm screw to provide a first gear reduction. The first gear has a hub offset from the central axis. The internal gear mounts relative to the housing and has a predetermined number of internal teeth. The second gear has an aperture which is driven by the eccentric hub as the eccentric hub rotates. The internal teeth cooperate with the external teeth so that the second gear orbits within the internal gear when driven by the eccentric hub to provide a second gear reduction. An output gear rotates about the central axis and is supported relative to the housing.

Abstract: The described Chromatography Buffers Center holds various types of buffers required in the purification of a variety of biological molecules. The unit consists of a base plate, a handle, reservoirs and lids with attached stop pins. The vertical handle, which is an extension of base plate, gives a nonslippery grip to lift and carry the unit. A short bent hook present in the handle is useful to mount the unit in a clamp that is attached to a common laboratory stand. The hook permits lateral movement of the unit even by a simple push with a finger. Base plate allows the unit sit on any flat surface of work bench, shelf or magnetic stirrer. Reservoirs attached permanently to the top of base plate hold different types of buffers in their chambers. Through drain tubes present in the rim of base plate, these buffers can be drawn to develop chromatography columns. Lid on each reservoir protects buffer from air born dust and evaporation.
