  • Patent number: 7172165
Abstract: A holder for related items used in an activity where such items are likely to be used, includes a substantially planar base to be placed on a surface and an open top receptacle hinged to the base so that the receptacle can be tipped about the hinge with respect to the base. The hinge is positioned substantially along a lower side edge of the receptacle and provides resistance to tipping movement of the receptacle so a user can tip the receptacle with respect to the base and the receptacle will maintain the tipped position until readjusted by the user. A divider unit is preferably removably positioned in the receptacle to divide the receptacle into sections for organizing and holding items to be held. A coil spring has ends attached to the receptacle so that the spring assumes an arcuate position extending from a side of the receptacle to receive and hold elongate items.

  • Patent number: 6889894
Abstract: A multi-compartment facility having a master door which can be opened by use of a master key and, when opened, admits substantially unrestricted access to all of the mailbox compartments, the master door incorporating a plurality of pivotally-mounted, sub-doors arranged to register each with a different one of the compartments and the sub-doors being individually lockable and openable only by assigned key holders. A manually operable control determines the condition of the flaps and employs a gear and rack system which moves a cam to longitudinally displace hinge rods for the sub doors, flap locking members being carried by the hinge rods and either preventing opening of the flaps or permittting them to open depending on the displacement condition of the hinge rods. In a modified arrangement, the flaps can be selectively and individually rendered non-lockable whereby the users can opt to receive junk mail and other deliverables.

  • Patent number: 6830156
Abstract: A one piece hanging file made from a continuous web of a flexible sheet material. In one embodiment, small loops are heat-welded at intervals along the strip creating channels or hems for removable hangers. Larger loops between the channels become the file pockets. In another embodiment spring clips clamp small loops of the strip and have notched overhanging ends to engage the support rails. In another embodiment, laminated film is welded directly to the edges of the hanger strips. In all embodiments the filed objects, such as compact discs, rise smoothly out of the looped file pocket when a hanger is lifted. In all embodiments, an opening or aperture made in the center of the looped bottom prevents round media such as CDs from accidentally rolling out of the pocket.

  • Patent number: 5590794
Abstract: Apparatus and procedure for sorting mail and the like rapidly and accurately. An array of sorting modules each contain a shelf or base and a series of vertical separator panels which divide the shelf area into a plurality of bins into which individual mail items may be selectively placed. A frontal connection feature extends transversely of the shelf, holding all of the grid of panels for movability as a set upwardly away from the shelf, but also individually movable transversely to give a bin-size adjustment to individual bins automatically in accordance with respective bins' needs. The frontal connection provides for the upward rotation with respect to the shelf, from a fore-and-aft panel-position which provides the sorting bins to move to an upraised position in which the panels are freed from the sorted mail batches so that the full set of sorted mail batches may be bundled as a group of code sets.

  • Patent number: 5535797
Abstract: A purse has walls that form an enclosed cavity. The walls have an opening that communicates with the cavity. Inside of the cavity are plural holders. A holder can be of a variety of configurations, such as a bag, a wallet, a checkbook, a key ring, etc. Each holder is secured to a support member by a line. The support member is coupled to the purse walls and has notches formed therein, which notches are located near the purse opening. The line from each holder extends through a respective notch in the support member. The free end of the line has a stop located thereon to prevent the line from being pulled through the notch. The stops can have unique tactual and visual characteristics to help a user of the purse identify a particular holder.

  • Patent number: 5524775
Abstract: The rotary device includes a center pillar mounted in a pedestal, and rotatable circular plates or shelves mounted to individually freely rotate about the pillar. Vertical partitions are mounted on at least some of the shelves. These partitions extend from the central area of a shelf towards but short of the periphery thereof at which point a perpendicular wing is provided to constitute a guard. The ratio between the length of the partition and that of the wing is adjusted so as to maximize the area of the circular shelf which is used for storing articles and for filing documents, thereby leaving a negligible unused area of the shelf.

  • Patent number: 5511672
Abstract: A novel mail carrier sorting case arrangement facilitates the sorting of mail according to current conditions. Compartments formed in a case by vertical dividers are provided for each delivery address. Flags reflecting special current delivery situations with respect to particular addresses are temporarily placed across the entrances to corresponding compartments which must be noted by the sorting mail carrier when inserting the mail. The flags are obstructions which will be noticed physically if not visually, and may be readily deflected. The flags are formed of a strip of flexible material mounted on one end on a spring clip readily attachable to and removable from a divider. A flag has one bending point about which the free end of the strip moves inward facilitating the easy insertion of a single piece of mail into the compartment. The strips may be color coded to indicate broad categories of special situations, and may bear readily mounted and removed information cards which carry detailed instructions.

  • Patent number: 5469975
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, the L-shaped status bar is modified by the addition of a mount to form a status bar subassembly. In the subassembly, the mount is preferably slidably attached to the status bar by an inverted U-shaped clasp, such U-shaped clasp being open along one side to slidably attach about a vertically extending leg of the L-shaped status bar. Positioned above the U-shaped clasp is a upright U-shaped, indicia supporting frame. The frame includes a pair of side walls and an end wall. The frame is open along one side and attaches to the U-shaped clasp at an opposite common end wall. The cavity formed between the side and end walls of the frame is constructed to receive a card that contains written indicia wherein all data related to an addressee's (or addressees') change in status per slot. In that way, efficiency of service is greatly improved.
