  • Patent number: 4342492
Abstract: A portable article supporting container is provided that allows access to one portion thereof without requiring the entire container to be opened, and when the entire container is opened one portion supports the other for ease of use. First and second container portions are pivotally mounted together for movement from a first position wherein the container is closed, to a second position wherein it is opened. One latch effects latching of the container portions in the closed position while another latch effects latching in the open position. A pair of article supporting plates are provided which are operatively pivotally connected to the container first portion so that the plates may be moved from a first position contained within the volume of the first container portion to a second position wherein they extend outwardly from that volume substantially perpendicular to a plane containing the container first portion.

  • Patent number: 4339164
Abstract: An article supporting assembly is provided that allows quick retrieval of articles mounted thereby, yet makes maximum utilization of the space occupied by the assembly for supporting articles. A center structure, at least two cover plates, and article supporting structures formed on at least one of the center structure and the cover plates are provided. At least two spanners are provided with first hinges for connecting one cover plate to one spanner, and the other cover plate to the other spanner so that the cover plates are pivotal with respect to the spanners, and second hinges for connecting the spanners to the center structure so that the spanners are pivotal with respect to the center structure. The center structure is mounted on a base and/or top of a housing so that it is pivotal with respect to the housing. The spanners, cover plates, and center structure may take a wide variety of forms.

  • Patent number: 4305510
Abstract: A phonograph record rack having a framework with upstanding pins for carrying on said pins elongate hinge clamps. The hinge clamps are of one piece extrusion reinforced plastic material being formed of two integral sections, an opening at its spine for mesh engagement with its associated pin and tensioned lips for holding a record album jacket. The hinge clamps are of substantially the same height as the jackets they carry and are adapted to secure in position an arcuate portion of the record itself. It is evident that each of the jackets is disposed in an upright position and can be readily swivelled for identification purposes.

  • Patent number: 4285556
Abstract: What is disclosed is a tool chest which comprises a main support housing; a center member slideably mounted in the main support housing; side members pivotally mounted to the main support housing; and means for supporting tools comprising part of the center member and each of the side members. The main support housing further includes a pair of support blocks which limit the downward vertical travel of the center member creating a storage area at the bottom of the chest. The slideable mount for the center member includes a cooperating groove and track. The track portion includes a spring biased section which is forced into the vertical path of the center member when the latter is raised above a certain height. It then provides a support ledge for holding the center member in its vertically disposed position, making the storage area accessible. The handle for carrying the chest includes cooperating handle sections disposed on the side members.

  • Patent number: 4170392
Abstract: The invention relates to an article supporting assembly that is useful as a toolbox, for shelving, for article display purposes, and a wide variety of other purposes. The basic assembly includes a center plate, at least two spanners, each having first and second opposite edges, at least two cover plates, and article supporting structures formed on the center plate and the cover plates. Each of the spanners is hinged to the center plate generally along the first spanner edges, the cover plates are hinged together, and each cover plate is hinged to a spanner generally along the second edge of the spanner, so that the cover plates are pivotal from a first position generally parallel to the center plate (spaced the width of the spanner) to a second position generally perpendicular to the center plate. A casing preferably surrounds the center plate, with a handle formed on the casing.

  • Patent number: 4102458
Abstract: A rack for goods and/or sales packages of predetermined dimensions includes frames having shelves or spaces for accommodating the goods, these shelves or spaces being of such dimensions and restrictions that the goods can only be inserted and removed in one direction. The novel feature of the disclosure is that that space where the goods can be inserted and removed is provided with a projection which necessitates that the goods be inclined obliquely on insertion and removal. This side is provided with a movable part which in one position prevents, while in the other position permits such oblique inclination. The shelf or space is provided with a support or ridge which, when the movable part is moved to its second, release position, automatically allows the goods to incline, utilising the natural weight of the goods.
