Patent number: 7575212Abstract: A mounting bracket for a slotted upright featuring a channel member having a channel and a forwardly extending element. An insert is positioned within the channel member and has L-shaped fingers extending through the channel. The insert is secured within the channel member by fastening screws through the channel member and into the insert. When the bracket is placed on a slotted upright so that the L-shaped fingers of the insert are within the upright slots, tightening of the screws causes the fingers of the insert to engage the slots of the slotted upright and pushes the rear side of the channel member tightly against the slotted upright. This creates an overlying relationship where the L-shaped fingers and rear side of the channel member sandwich the slotted upright to provide an extremely secure connection. The mounting bracket is easily installed or removed by tightening or loosening the screws.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2006Date of Patent: August 18, 2009Assignee: Milton Merl & Associates, Inc.Inventor: Robert Langelius

Publication number: 20090107944Abstract: A beam safety clip has a mounting clip secured in a recessed slot of a bracket and a locking pin biased into another recessed slot of the bracket such that the locking pin may be pulled clear of its recessed slot against bias while the mounting clip is blocked against its removal. Both recessed slots mirror each other within the bracket. An end of the mounting clip has two wings bent outward to enable grasping of same to pull the locking pin against spring bias out of the recessed slot that is in. Upon release, the locking pin biases back into the recessed slot from where it came. Each recessed slot includes a constricted portion and a non-constricted portion. The mounting clip is secured under bias to the constricted portion of one recessed slot while the locking pin is simultaneously biased into the non-constricted portion of the other recessed slot.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2007Publication date: April 30, 2009Inventor: Mark A. Publication number: 20020153341Abstract: The locking connector interconnects a shelf-supporting beam to an upright of a knock-down storage rack. The locking connector includes a plunger which is connected to the connector and which is slidable between locking and unlocking positions. The plunger, when in the locking position, is within one of a number of openings formed in the upright with resulting locking of the upright to the connector. When the plunger is in the unlocking position, it is outside the opening thus allowing the upright to be separated from the connector. The first embodiment of the locking connector includes a resilient rod which is biased into a groove formed in the shank of the plunger when the plunger is in the locking position. The rod prevents the plunger from moving from the locking position unless a force, opposed to the bias of the rod, is applied to the plunger to cause the rod to withdraw from the groove. The second embodiment of the locking connector includes a housing which surrounds and protects the plunger.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2002Publication date: October 24, 2002Inventors: Trevor May, Rolf Fabricius, Stephan Davis

Patent number: 6443320Abstract: A storage rack system, locking latch therefor, and combinations thereof. The latch having generally a flexible and resilient arm coupleable to a beam member and having a locking pin coupled thereto. The resilient arm biases the locking pin through a locking pin opening of the beam member so that the locking pin protrudes at least partially into a post opening aligned at least partially with the locking pin opening when the beam member is connected to the post by a headed lug. A locking flange extending generally radially from the locking pin is engageable with a portion of the beam member to inhibit withdrawal of the locking pin from the locking pin opening.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2000Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Richard R. Patent number: 6425563Abstract: A clamp for use on a retail or commercial display device wherein a rod is slidingly received in a channel and selectively positionable therein by an position locking member. A hook plate attached to a display element, such as shelving, hanger rods, etc. has hooks for engaging a bolt mounted to the rod. A knob on the bolt is tightened to clamp the hook plate between the rod, or the post, and the inner face of the knob. The clamp may be locked in position while the hook plate is released or attached. Similarly, the hook plate may stay clamped to the display while the position lock is released, thereby permitting the clamp to be moved along the channel while the hook plate is still clamped thereto.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2001Date of Patent: July 30, 2002Assignee: Wm. Patent number: 6352164Abstract: An adjustable rack system has a column with a plurality of teardrop shaped slots and a beam having a connecting bracket that connects the beam to the column. The connecting bracket can be an L-shaped bracket with a recessed portion in one of the legs of the L. A plurality of connectors extend from the surface of the bracket and are adapted for insertion into a large upper portion of the teardrop shaped slots and then moved downward to the bottom portion of the teardrop shaped slots. A locking pin is provided that extends through an opening in the recessed portion and is movable between an extended position where the locking pin projects beyond the recessed portion and a retracted position where the locking pin does not project beyond the recessed portion. A spring is coupled to the locking pin and can be located at least partially within the indentation.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2000Date of Patent: March 5, 2002Assignee: Paltier, L.L.C.Inventors: Richard L. Publication number: 20010045404Abstract: An automatic locking apparatus releasably locks together a studded end plate connector to a notched vertical frame column of a storage rack. The automatic lock includes a vertical lever positioned adjacent one surface of an end plate connector when the end plate connector is mounted on a vertical frame column. A locking pin and tension support extend from the inside face of the vertical lever through the end plate connector. The tension support has a protruding end extending past the end plate connector and a tension device mounted on the protruding end to create a force for pulling the inside face of the vertical lever toward one surface of the end plate connector. The locking pin has a length that allows it to extend through the top of a notch or other aperture in the frame column when studs of the end plate connector are positioned in the bottom of corresponding notches in the frame column, preventing withdrawal of the studs from the notches.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2001Publication date: November 29, 2001Applicant: Ridg-U-Rak, Inc.Inventor: John B.
