  • Patent number: 5631059
Abstract: This invention pertains to an improved artificial shrub or tree and the method for constructing same. The invention improves upon all prior art artificial shrubs or trees by providing for a marketedly authentic series of branches which extend from the trunk or main body of the growth and improves upon all prior art structures through the use of an intermediate adapter shaped in the form of a branch which has its thickest end extending from the trunk and which becomes increasingly thinner as it approaches the cantilever end thereof. The adapter produces an authentic branch appearance in comparison to prior art branches which generally have little if any diminishing thickness extending from the supporting end and which are simply bluntly stuck into a bore in the trunk.

  • Patent number: 4921190
Abstract: A display construction assembly is provided in order to enable packaging, assembly and transportation ease. The invention focuses on the particular structure of the main display pole of the assembly, wherein segments thereof are connected by use of a connecting insert, preferably made of nylon or other synthetic material, formed to include upwardly and downwardly extending elements from a central, washer-shaped integral flange. The extending elements fit into segments of the main display pole and the washer is either coextensive in outside diameter with the outside diameter of the main display pole, or, in the alternative, extending beyond such outside diameter to better support a rotating part of the display. As a further alternative, all circular cross-section parts of the structure of the present invention can be made square in cross-section, with the same general construction and function as the preferred embodiment.

  • Patent number: 4897292
Abstract: An artificial Christmas tree with folding branches is disclosed. A special form of branch-mounting sleeve and adapter element allow pivoting action to be achieved while enabling the use of conventional, readily-available bent wire branch elements. The adapter element is initially assembled with the bent wire branch, after which the adapter is snapped onto a pivot bar formed by the branch mounting sleeve. The branch wire and adapter are inseparably assembled once the adapter is pivotally attached to the sleeve. Considerable savings are realized by the ability to use conventional bent wire branches.

Abstract: A disassembleable clothes or other garment rack or stand having a base, a supporting axle rod extending upwardly from the base and a plurality of spool-like elements separated from each other, and disposed for rotation about the rod at different height levels, and each said element having angularly, upwardly extending peg-type hangers insertable into it, with each of said elements and its hangers being greater in size and extent than the element and its hangers at the level immediately below. The stand may be converted into a decorative simulated tree by providing an annular support member having a plurality of spaced-apart coaxial rings disposed on the top of the base arm branches hung from the peg hangers and resting upon the coaxial rings.

  • Patent number: 4855167
Abstract: A plurality of artificial trees placed in combination with a plurality of vehicle parking spaces, the parking spaces being disposed in an array of adjacently disposed parking spaces forming a parking area. The trees further include a base with an open cylinder for receiving the trunk of a tree and holding the tree in an upright position. The base is positioned at one lateral side of a parking space so that each base is positioned across the parking space from an adjacent base. Branches are attached at the top of the trunk at about six feet above ground level. The branches are disposed to extend across about one-half the width of each of the adjacently disposed parking spaces. The entire parking space is shaded from the sun by the branches of the tree.

  • Patent number: 4799434
Abstract: A free-standing shelf assembly includes a plurality of interchangeable corner shelf members which are supported in cantilever fashion around the outside corners of the box-like support structure. The walls of the support structure include arrays of elongate, horizontally-oriented slots. Brace members inside the support structure include a plurality of pockets which correspond to the slots and are coplanar therewith. The corner shelf members each include a pair of projecting tangs which are adapted to pass through the slots in adjacent walls and are received in the pockets of the brace members to provide in-line cantilever support for the corner shelf members, including the portions which extend around the corners. An alternative embodiment without brace members employs the cooperation between a slot and a tang associated with one wall to provide cantilever support for the portion of the corner shelf associated with the adjacent wall.
