Article Locking Patents (Class 211/4)
  • Patent number: 5588631
Abstract: An assembly for anchoring and lockably securing articles such as tool storage boxes to the bed of a pick-up truck includes an elongated hollow beam fastenable to a truck bed and having through one wall thereof a plurality of longitudinally spaced apart perforations. Elongated members that are securable at a rear-end thereof to a tool box or other such article have enlarged heads that are insertable through the perforations in the beam wall. A locking bar longitudinally slidably held within the beam is provided with a plurality of longitudinally spaced apart cutout sections alignable with the perforations through the beam wall with the locking bar in a first, unlocked position in which the locking members may be inserted through the perforations and cutout sections. With the locking bar slid to a second locking position, portions of the locking bar engage the heads of the locking members protruding inward through the perforations, thereby preventing withdrawal of the locking members.

  • Patent number: 5560497
Abstract: An article holder of the invention has a forked shoe and a drawer, the shoe and drawer being coordinated with one another on a wall base, such that the shoe serves as a lid for the drawer, when the drawer is in its in-position. The fork of the shoe extends beyond the drawer in the in-position, so that an article supported in the fork may block movement of the drawer out of the in-position. A special locking structure is provided to close the fork and transmit force to stress the fork legs uniformly in tension. The wall base is equipped with a special mounting system comprised of a pocket, which grasps a fastener head of a first fastener shank in a slot adjoining its opening, and a hole through a second fastener may be driven, once the head of the first fastener is grasped. The wall base may have a silhouette suggesting a type of article which may be supported in the holder.

  • Patent number: 5520291
Abstract: A high security, inexpensive and versatile manner of locking firearms within a theft proof gun rack. The apparatus comes in two embodiments for use with long guns or pistols and utilizes a locking bar which locks the firearm within a given partition within the gun rack. The long gun embodiment of the apparatus accepts various sized guns, either in or out of soft gun cases, by using an optional spacer to accept smaller guns within the rack. The apparatus is designed to be mounted to a wall or similar object and, once a firearm is in place and locked, the mounting bolts are unreachable. Protection of the finish of the firearm is afforded by a resilient covering on all parts of the rack which come in contact with the firearm.

  • Patent number: 5472101
Abstract: A ski security system includes a moveable rack for supporting pairs of skis when not it use. The rack is formed of two tubular members of galvanized steel tubing each bent in a single piece to form a leg portion at each end with an intermediate transverse portion therebetween. In service, each transverse portion extends between the tops of the two respective leg portions, which are themselves attached to the opposite two legs of the other tubular member. The transverse members are spaced apart from one another to form a yoke for carrying. The racks are stackable for storage, and light enough to be moved to an inside storage location daily. Each leg portion is bent to form a knee portion located proximate the top thereof and near the transverse portion. The two tubular members are joined at each end, being connected at the respective knee portion of each, the legs extending away therefrom upward and downward as well as outward.

  • Patent number: 5370231
Abstract: A modular theft-protected display case for rings permits handling and trying-on of a ring which is secured by a strong metallic cord, riveted at the ends which are placed in the axial perforation in a counterweight placed in coinciding grooves which make it impossible to remove the ring from the display case. Rings are situated in openings on a cover of a hollow case. Underneath these holes, inside the case, is a set of strips, each having a vertical line of holes aligned with openings on the cover. These holes have slits at the bottom through which the cord passes. The slits of the holes prevents the ring from being removed either upward, due to the counterweight or downward, due to the ring itself. A separate spring biases each strip to this non-removal position. Each strip has a contacting portion for moving the strip out of its biased position in order to allow a ring to fall through a hole and within the hollow case. This contacting portion is accessible through the back of the case.

  • Patent number: 5366098
Abstract: An archery bow hanger is capable of holding a bow or bows vertically and in parallel spaced relation to a door or wall on which the hanger is mounted. A mounting means may take the form of a U-shaped hook member which extends around the top edge of a door. The hook member is sufficiently thin that, when the door is closed, the hook member is able to sit between the door and its adjacent frame. The hook member is connected to one end of an extension member that extends away from the door, and a horizontal bar is connected to the other end of the extension member. A bow is held on the horizontal bar such that its respective limb and string extend on opposite sides of the bar. Several alternate mounting means are described. The hanger allows a bow to be vertically mounted such that the limb of the bow is directed away from the door or wall on which the hanger is mounted, adjustments to the bow being thereby facilitated.

  • Patent number: 5040385
Abstract: A universal personal property locking device for releasably securing articles of personal property against unauthorized removal. The locking device includes a housing adapted to be mounted on a support surface and a generally U-shaped receptacle secured to the housing. In a preferred embodiment the receptacle has opposite closed ends and open ends so that an article inserted into the receptacle through the open end can only be removed from the open end. A lock bar is movably supported in the housing for back and forth movement between locked and unlocked positions. The lock bar extends out of the housing across the open end of the receptacle in its locked position and is moved away from the open end of the receptacle in its unlocked position, thereby to enable the insertion and removal of articles of personal property into and from the receptacle. A releasable lock mechanism in the housing is operative to releasably secure the lock bar in the locked position thereof.

  • Patent number: 5022536
Abstract: A locking system for firearms that allows the firearms to be openly displayed, yet safe from the hands of inquisitive children. The major components of the system are a cable assembly, a block shaped anchor housing and a pair of eyebolts. The cable assembly is a length of steel cable having a loop formed at its opposite ends along with a tubular clamp adjacent thereto. The tubular clamp and loops are detachably received in sockets formed in opposing side walls of the anchor housing. There is a cavity formed in the rear walls of the anchor housing which receives the two loops and also the closed loop end of the eyebolts. A locking pin passes down through an aperture in the top wall of the anchor housing and it threads through the respective loops and the closed loop ends of the eyebolts. A lock assembly extending through the top wall of the anchor housing is connected to a locking cam that detachably engages the locking pin to prevent its removal.

  • Patent number: 5007568
Abstract: A chain saw carrier mounts to the upright sidewalls of a truck and includes an angularly adjustable frame for carrying one or more saws above the bed of the truck. The carrier includes a frame suspended over the truck bed. A slotted blade receiver plate receives the saw blades, and a saw dog receiving bar above the plate secures and supports the saws by engagement between adjacent saw dog points on the engine compartments. The weight of the saws bear against the saw dog receiving bar which holds the saws elevationally in position. The carrier may include a cover member, selectively securable over the saw engine compartments. A locking device employs a flexible locking member that may be secured through the handle enclosures of saws mounted to the device, to secure the saw or saws to the carrier frame.
