  • Patent number: 11927107
Abstract: A TRV-type turbine casing includes inner and outer annular shrouds that extend one inside the other and about the same axis and are connected together by arms. A tool for disassembling and moving the casing has a lower carriage for moving the tool, and an upper plate to be attached to the turbine casing. The plate is supported by the carriage and includes first members that cooperate with a first annular flange of one of the shrouds to support the casing and axially immobilize the casing relative to the tool. The plate further includes second members that cooperate with a second annular flange of the other shroud in order to prevent and/or guide the rotation of the casing about the axis.

  • Patent number: 9238569
Abstract: Controlling the orientation of a load suspended from a bearing wire employs one master winch, one slave winch and a winch control. Each of the winches has a motor and a bi-directional rotational spool with a tagline. The winches are on the ground, the crane or the load. Each tagline is attached to the load for applying a controlled torque to the load about the bearing wire. The control system comprises tagline tension sensors and spool rotation sensors. The control system is connected to each winch motor for simultaneously rotating the winch spools, until preset tagline tensions are sensed during horizontal and/or vertical movement of the load. If necessary, the spools are rotated with rotation speeds for maintaining a desired orientation of the load, based on the determined tagline tensions. After relieving tagline tensions, the taglines are disconnected from the load.

  • Patent number: 8721248
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotator (10) for jib-carried tools (1), for example tree working units, wherein the rotator (10) includes a stator (20) and a rotor (30), wherein the rotator (10) is connected to a tip (2) of the jib or arm (3) and to the tool (1). The rotator (10) has or includes in its surroundings means (70, 71) for determining the relative position of rotation between rotor (30) and stator (20). The means for determining the relative position of rotation comprises a pulse emitter (70) and a number of pulse generating elements (71), such as grooves or teeth. Limitation of the angle through which the rotator (10) can turn and control of the direction of rotation prevents, for instance, hoses and/or cables (7) from twisting or rotating away from their respective connections, while enhancing the extent to which automation can be achieved at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20080044236
Abstract: A lifting device such as a mobile crane having a main body and a boom, such as a lattice boom, for supporting a pile lead for, e.g., pile driving or continuous flight auger drilling, and a method of using same. A hydraulically operated mechanical spotter arm may be attached between the device body and the pile lead. Electronic position sensors on the spotter arm may be used to measure angular relationships between the pile lead and the spotter arm. Position sensors on a boom box on the boom may also be used. When the pile lead is swung, information from the sensors may be used by an electronic control system to automatically maintain the pile lead in a desirable position, limiting torque induced in the boom. The boom box position sensors may be used to counter-steer the spotter arm to further limit torque. The boom box may also be fitted with rubber springs to permit controlled pile lead deflection while limiting load transmitted to the boom.

  • Patent number: 6517131
Abstract: A unit (10) having a boom (12) and rotary device (14). The rotary device includes a first bracket (22), a second bracket (24) movably mounted to the first bracket and a third bracket (54) connected to the second bracket by a driven shaft (34). A motor (40) is mounted on a motor bracket (38) mounted to the second bracket. A drive gear (46) is mounted on the motor and engages a driven gear (48) mounted on the driven shaft. A friction plate (56) is located on the driven shaft adjacent the third bracket. When a load (102) is connected to the third bracket, the weight of the load pulls the third bracket downward into contact with the friction plate. The frictional contact between the third bracket and the friction plate causes the third bracket and the load to rotate when the drive shaft is rotated.

  • Patent number: 5211526
Abstract: A modular, readily assembled crane for mounting on a vehicle trailer hitch drawbar and reconfigurable for stand alone, rollabout operation. A receptacle rotatably supports a vertical column, boom arm, and lifting device, which may be a hydraulic jack or a winch. The receptacle has a lateral projection cooperating with the drawbar and two lateral projections to engage outriggers to steady the device and to support weight. The outriggers may be omitted. The same three projections, when reconfiguring the crane to rollabout operation, cooperate with a readily built up frame riding just above a floor, supported on casters. Rollabout frame length, boom arm angle, boom arm length, and outrigger height are adjustable. A non-lubricated PTFE washer serves as a rotating bearing. Optional parts include a receiving unit mountable to a vehicle in the absence of a trailer hitch, and a similar unit mountable to a wall surface.

  • Patent number: 4601633
Abstract: A hoist that includes a winding drum for a load-lift cable mechanism. The um has two drum sections of slightly different diameter; end portions of the cable are wound in different directions on the drum sections, so that one cable section winds onto a drum section while the other cable section winds off the other drum section. The effect is to provide a very slow net cable motion related to the difference in drum section diameters. The hoist includes a latch mechanism adapted to suspend the load from the boom during certain periods of a load transfer operation.

Abstract: The present disclosure of a board bundle cradle is for use with the free end of a dip stick having a pivoted work carrier at its free end having a hook which has a horizontally rotatable work carrier movable through an arc of the order of 106.degree. horizontally relative to the pivot. The board road board bundle cradle has a pair of spaced apart end frames each of which has a base member adapted to receive and support a bundle of boards to be laid into a board road. A major and a minor board bundle containment member upstands from each end of each base member and extends from the upper portion of each major support member. Spacer means between the spaced apart end frames rigidly secures the frames together. The portion lying between the upwardly forwardly inclined member and the upper free end of the minor board bundle containment member defines the loading mouth of the cradle through which a bundle of boards to be laid are introduced to the base members of each end frame.

  • Patent number: 4350254
Abstract: A lifting apparatus includes two lifting hoists which are respectively associated with two cables. These cables are lowered in parallel with one another, and are connected to a fixed part of a rotating apparatus. The rotating part of this apparatus moves along longitudinal rails of a secondary frame which is attached to the carrier of the container. The lifting operation may be performed as the container's gravity center reaches the perpendicular axis of the center of a quadilateral defined by four points established by an electronic device which detects the various loads within the lifting cables and is adapted to actuate appropriate hydraulic means to maintain a load differential between the cables below a predetermined value. In this respect, the apparatus balances the containers to be lifted before lifting them.
