  • Patent number: 4838439
Abstract: A hoist for use over a man hole includes a H shaped base part defining two side struts and a cross strut offset toward one end of the side struts. The base part has four legs arranged at the ends of the side struts, adjustable in height and terminating in a flat pad for engaging the ground. A vertical sleeve part extends upwardly from the cross strut for receiving a swivel arm which is a separate item and can be inserted into the sleeve part for swivelling movement about a vertical axis. A swivel arm includes a jib portion extending out over the larger area defined forwardly of the cross-strut. Swivelling movement is limited to the forward area.

  • Patent number: 4794662
Abstract: The invention is a self-contained chimney cleaning apparatus. A winch operated wire brush is attached by cable to a winch pulley, which is in turn mounted to a pivoting housing. The pivoting housing is suspended over the opening of the chimney flue, and remotely controllable. The remote control allows the housing to be pivoted away from the chimney flue opening when the cleaning operation is complete. During the cleaning operation, the housing is positioned over the chimney flue opening and the winch operated brush is lowered and raised through the chimney flue.

  • Patent number: 4688688
Abstract: A jib crane system comprising a horizontally extending load beam rigidly attached to the upper end of a vertically extending mast. The lower part of the mast is positioned inside a hollow structure such as a pipe and is rotatably associated therein, and spaced from the inside surface of the pipe. A bearing boot is rigidly secured to the mast and in frictional contact with the inside surface of the pipe. The bearing boot slides around the inside circumference of the pipe in a circular or arcuate path as the mast and load beam revolve around the central axis of the mast. The bearing boot includes an outer arcuate concave contacting plate having substantially the same radius as the inside convex surface of the pipe. A ring of foil may be secured on the inside of the pipe for providing the sliding surface for the bearing boot. The mast may comprise a flanged beam having a pair of side walls with a web portion therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4659276
Abstract: A load handling apparatus for a vehicle has a mounting frame with a mast movable between a lowered travelling position and a raised working position. A boom carrier on the mast pivotally supports an articulated boom, which has a winch at its distal end. The winch cable is attached to a load carrying cradle which has handle bars to be gripped by the operator and the switch controls for the winch. The mast is counter-balanced by a spring and turnbuckles connect the boom carrier to the mounting frame and the mast to tilt the boom carrier in two directions if the vehicle is on uneven ground.

  • Patent number: 4560074
Abstract: There is disclosed a hoist adapted to be mounted on a conventional sectional scaffold structure in which the hoist apparatus consists of a boom assembly to be mounted near the top of a scaffold structure and a winch assembly to be mounted near the bottom of such structure. The winch assembly includes a cable drum and a cable, a worm gear drive for the drum and a two-speed pulley drive from the motor to the worm gear. The cable runs upwardly in proximity to a column of the scaffold structure and through a short hollow vertical mast section on top of which is mounted a rotatable boom having a pair of pulleys to guide the cable out of the top of the mast section to the end of the boom and downwardly to receive a load. The mast section supporting the boom may be only about six feet long and is removably attached to a column of the scaffold structure so that the scaffold structure effectively supplies the mast for the boom of the hoist.

  • Patent number: 4498596
Abstract: Supplementary equipment for use with a self-propelled crane with a telescopic jib to increase the possibilities of use of the crane on the ground comprising a support having a structure connected to the head of the jib and pivotally mounted on a platform of the crane, and an auxiliary jib articulated on the head of the jib. A strut is articulated at one end to the foot of the auxiliary jib and connected at its outer end to reeving articulated on the crane and controlled by a first winch and by a cable to the head of the auxiliary jib. A lifting hook is suspended by reeving from pulleys at the head of the jib and controlled by a cable connected to a second winch on the crane. The inclination and height of the auxiliary jib are controlled by the reeving and the first winch connected thereto, and angular movement of the jib about the vertical axis or pivotal movement of the structure on the platform is controlled by movement of the crane about that vertical axis.
