Abstract: The present invention provides a safety device against crane overturning which operates in a crawler crane comprising at least four outriggers in a frame, the safety device comprising a load detector 2 that detects a ground reaction to each of the outriggers, and an alarm output section 4 which calculates sums of detected values for ground reactions to every two adjacent outriggers to find a minimum value of the sums. The alarm output section then compares the minimum value obtained with a preset preliminary reference value and a preset limit reference value and outputs a preliminary alarm signal when the minimum value is smaller than the preliminary reference value or outputs a limit alarm signal when the minimum value is smaller than the limit reference value. Abstract: Automatic and simultaneous retraction of a pair of stabilizer legs for a backhoe loader machine 10 is beneficial for the operator when operation of the backhoe loader is complete. Instead of retracting the stabilizer legs by manually holding a pair of control switches continuously in a control position, the operator may simply push an auto-up switch with a single, “one-touch” contact. Once the auto-up switch has been activated by the “one-touch” contact, a timer relay is enabled. The timer relay acts independently of the auto-up switch to control the simultaneously retraction of the stabilizer legs without any further contact to the auto-up switch. When the timer relay is enabled, it sends a signal to activate the control switches for a preselected time. Abstract: A system for supporting a vehicle frame, preferably of a forklift, on a base surface includes a pair of linkages attached to the frame. Each linkage includes a base link having a first end attached to the frame and a second end. A contact link is rotatably attached to the base link second end and has a contact surface engageable with the base surface. A drive link has a first end connected with the frame and a second end connected with the contact link. The drive link is configured to move the contact link in a first direction, such that the contact surface moves into engagement with the base surface, and alternatively in a second direction such that the contact surface moves generally away from the base surface. The drive link has a first portion connected with the frame and including the drive link first end and a second portion connected with the contact link and including the drive link second end.

Abstract: In connection with a pair of pivotally connected articulating booms there is a pair of double-acting hydraulic cylinders which control the vertical pulling of well pipe, such that a boom assembly in conjuction with an improved winch assembly willgenerate at least a 1500 pound perpendicular pulling force to a vertical height of at least 23.5 feet. This is done with a mini hoist, releasably mounted upon a hydraulically self-propelled 4.times.4 vehicle. The entire weight of the mini hoist is less than 1500 pounds and in the collapsed stage can fit within a box truck or on a pickup truck.

Abstract: A rear hydraulic outrigger assembly for a rotator or similar mobile wrecker wherein the rear outriggers are constructed and arranged to diverge rearwardly from the outrigger and are capable of outward lateral extension for increased stability. The rear outrigger includes a vertically extending portion and horizontally extending position which can be telescopically extended away from the rotator thereby increasing stability during loaded operation. This allows a large vehicle which requires rear stabilization room in the center part thereof for an underlift or similar structure while maintaining down and out stabilization advantages.

Abstract: A dual mode stabilizer [10] for primary use in conjunction with a backhoe loader, such as a rubber-tired backhoe loader or in conjunction with a backhoe attachment for a skid steer loader. The dual mode stabilizer [10] includes a pair of base members [20] rigidly fixed on opposite sides of the tractor [15] proximate the backhoe attachment. A stabilizer arm assembly [30] engages the base member [20]. The stabilizer arm assembly [30] is piston [60] actuated and includes an outrigger arm member [65], a sliding arm member [70] pivotally connected to the outrigger arm member [65] so as to limit movement of the outrigger arm member [65] with respect to the sliding arm member [70] to rotational movement about a first pivot point [75], a first locking mechanism for preventing rotational movement of the outrigger arm member [65]. Movement of the sliding arm member [70] within the base member [20] is limited to axial movement.

  • Patent number: 5961145
Abstract: The invention relates to a mobile machine (16, 20, 22) with a multi-axle chassis (14). To provide support to the ground, there is at least one support strut (30, 32) which can be supported on the ground at its free end on a vertically extendible foot (54) and can pivot about a pivoting axis (26, 28) on the chassis (14) parallel to the vertical axis of the vehicle from an inoperative position against a longitudinal side of the chassis into a laterally pivoted supporting position. In order to be able to transmit both vertical and horizontal forces and movements to the ground via the struts (30, 32) largely without plat and slip, each strut (30, 32) has a locking mechanism which secures it in its outwardly pivoted supporting position against rotation about its pivoting axis (26, 28).

  • Patent number: 5706960
Abstract: A mobile crane having frame structure supporting a boom and turret unit between the front and rear wheel axles of the crane is provided with four outrigger arms which are extensible to present an extended perimeter X-shaped pattern. The outrigger arms are each swingably attached to the crane for swinging movement from retracted positions adjacent the turret of the crane, to extended X-pattern defining dispositions where the ground engaging pads of the two forwardmost extended outrigger arms are generally aligned with the axis of the front axle of the crane, and the ground engaging pads of the two rearmost outrigger arms are generally aligned with the axis of the rear axle of the crane. Each of the outrigger arms is constructed such that the outer pad supporting ends move through an essentially upright path of travel as they approach, move toward and then move below ground level at the wheels of a crane.

  • Patent number: 5667245
Abstract: A reversible stabilizer pad for use with stabilizer arms of vehicles. The reversible stabilizer pad has a plate with first and second ground contact faces pivotally coupled to the stabilizer arm such that the plate can rotate about the arm to engage the ground surface with either ground contact face. A spring member is provided such that it provides a spring tension that resists rotation of the pad in at least a first direction to prevent the pad from rotating from one contact face to the other contact face due to the inertia of the pad as the stabilizer arm is moved. The spring member also indexes the rotational position of the pad with respect to the arm so that at least one of the contact faces evenly engages a ground surface as the arm is emplaced. In other embodiments, a resilient latch, coupled to one of the stabilizer pad and the arm, contacts the other of the stabilizer pad and the arm, and provides frictional resistance to rotation.
