Abstract: In a nipple for a baby feeding container, a valve part is disclosed, comprising a unidirectional valve formed of a pliable material and oppositely oriented such that when attached to the container a normal fluid flow through the valve is into the container while a flow from the container to the outside is normally blocked, the valve is characterized by a plurality of normally closed non intersecting slits formed in a deformable wall which blocks the flow of liquid from the container to the outside unless when the slits become temporarily distorted by the natural mouth maneuverings of a baby. The valve is especially advantageous for use in baby feeding containers of inflatable type in which the liquid content is pressurized under the pressure exerted by the stretched elastomeric walls of the container.

  • Patent number: 11969395
Abstract: The invention is a hollow nipple containing a side-entry tube and aperture that solves the problem of administering fluid medicines to infants or babies by combining the comfort of a common baby bottle, containing accustomed milk or formula, with the use of an industry common, over-the-counter oral medicine syringe by allowing for the syringe to be inserted into the side-entry tube and aperture so that the medicine can mix with the milk or formula and be quickly consumed while the care provider has the option of manually regulating the flow of the medicine into the nipple. The invention therefore avoids the need for administering such fluid medicine directly into the mouth, or even mixing it into the contents of the bottle where the medicine may not be fully or timely consumed. The invention has applications not only with human infants and babies but also in the field of animal care.

  • Patent number: 11077027
Abstract: A baby bottle, an insert for a baby bottle, a baby bottle including an insert, and a method of feeding an infant that serves to pace the infant's feeding rhythm. Generally, these devices and methods will be of use for a preterm infant who lacks coordination of the suck-swallow-breathe synchrony, but can also be used with full term infants who can benefit from rigid control of the flow of milk from a bottle, this includes, but is not limited to, infants with gastroesophageal reflux who can require pacing of feeds to allow for gastric emptying. The device generally cues the infant to swallow and breathe after each 1-4 sucks by stopping the flow of the fluid from the bottle after the infant has sucked sufficiently or a predetermined period of time has passed. Once the baby breathes or a period of time passes, the bottle resets for the next repetition. The device also serves to consistently slow the flow of milk during oral feeding.
