  • Patent number: 9815604
Abstract: A two-piece tamper-evident band assembly for use with a container and closure combination, where the container has a peripheral collar and the closure has a skirt, is shown. The tamper-evident band assembly includes a breakaway band frangibly connected to a staying ring. The staying ring has decreased flexibility where it connects to the container and closure combination, which prevents the assembly from deforming in a manner that will cause the assembly to fail to indicate that the container has been opened. The tamper-evident band assembly also indicates whether the container has been compromised without requiring modification of the container or the closure and can be applied to existing container and closure combinations that lack a tamper-evident system, allowing the assembly to be used with a variety of container and closure combinations.

  • Patent number: 6085745
Abstract: A pharmaceutical container and inhaler device having a mouthpiece and a cap which are rotatably connected to each other. For providing a certain child-resistance against disconnection, the mouthpiece has an external circumferential groove, whereas the cap is provided with an internal boss for engagement with the groove. There is an axial notch extending from the groove to the end of the mouthpiece and "traps" for the boss, in the form of recesses on the groove, are provided at either side of the notch.

  • Patent number: 6039195
Abstract: A child resistant package which includes a container having an open end and multiple threads on the external surface of the container adjacent the upper end. A closure having a base wall and a peripheral skirt has an inner surface formed with single or multiple threads corresponding in number to the multiple threads on the container for engaging the threads on the container. A deflectable release element is formed integrally on the container. The release element includes an integral axially deflectable lug extending upwardly toward the open end of the container. The closure has at least one locking lug on the skirt of the closure, the number of locking lugs preferably corresponding to the number of threads on the container and closure.

  • Patent number: 5938054
Abstract: The closure assembly of FIGS. 1 and 3 comprises a container 1, a cap 2 having a skirt portion 3, and a captive band 4 attached via a tamper-evident tear-off band 5 and a pair of frangible connections 6 and 7 to the skirt portion 3. Arrows 8 on the skirt 3 and 9 on the container 1 show that the cap 2 has been put on in the aligned position. A tab 10 on one end of the tear-off band 5 provides a grip for the fingers in removing the band. In FIG. 3 the tab 10 has been torn away to reveal a detent means on the container neck in the form of a projection 11. This is partly situated in a gap 19 under the tab 10 before this has been lifted away, and partly under the start end of the tear-off band 5, which is adapted to flex slightly to accommodate the projection 11 without any significant damage to the frangible connections 6 and 7.

  • Patent number: 5927529
Abstract: A child resistant container having a container body, a ring and closure. The container body has an annular guide disposed on its neck's outer surface. The ring has an annular support disposed on its inner surface. The ring rotatably couples to the container body by sliding the ring over the container body's neck and positioning the support inside the guide the ring has an annular protrusion on its outer surface. The protrusion is divided into segments. The closure has an annular protrusion on its wall's inner surface. The closure's protrusion is divided into segments. The closure is snapped on the ring and retained on the ring via an interlocking of the segments. The closure is removed from the ring by aligning the closure segments in a position so they will pass through the gaps in the ring protrusion.

  • Patent number: 5860543
Abstract: The closure cap for sealing a container has an inner skirt shaped and sized to fit externally and to be secured onto the neck of the container. The cap also has an outer skirt projecting from the inner skirt. This outer skirt extends over the inner skirt at a given distance from same, thereby defining a gap there between. The outer skirt is made of a material that is resiliently flexible and can be deformed when an external pressure is applied onto its external surface. The cap further has a foldable cover shaped and sized to close the neck of the container. This cover has a peripheral edge attached to the outer skirt by a hinge. A snap having one part integral to the upper portion of the other skirt and another part integral to the cover is provided for releasably locking the cover in a closed position when it is folded down over the neck of the container.

  • Patent number: 5779072
Abstract: A child resistant package includes a plastic container and a plastic closure. The container includes a body and a finish having an opening. The closure includes a base wall, an outer flexible peripheral skirt and an inner peripheral skirt. Interengaging retaining means on the finish of the container and the inner skirt of said closure restrict relative movement between said container and closure to rotary movement. The plastic closure also includes opposed flexible portions on said outer skirt and opposed lugs on the inner surface of the outer skirt. The container has opposed lugs on the finish engaging said lugs on said closure precluding rotation of said closure unless said flexible portions of said skirt are squeezed. A portion of the base wall of the closure is hinged to the base wall and normally lies in the same plane as the base wall. The container has a securing bead on the finish and the top portion has means engaging the securing bead. The container includes an inclined ramp.

Abstract: The present invention is a container closure device, which includes a container, a collar ring and a cap. The container has a neck, an open top and a horizontal retainer track thereon for affixing a collar ring thereto. A collar ring affixed to a track of the container has a plurality of cut outs on a ledge to permit a cap to be inserted and removed from the collar ring. The cap has has a plurality of bosses which correspond to and are sized to freely move through the cut outs of the ledge of the collar ring and, when the cap is so inserted and rotated, of adequate size to cause frictional engagement and to cause simultaneous rotation of the cap and the collar ring and to prevent removal of the cap from the collar ring, except when the cap and the collar ring are held separately and are rotated relative to one another such that the bosses and the cut outs are in alignment for lift up removal of the cap from the collar ring.

  • Patent number: 5709306
Abstract: An adult container according to the present invention comprises a container body and a cup-shaped closure which is installed telescopically over the open end of the container body. An annular rib, a plurality of longitudinal ramps and an annular groove and retaining lip are provided on the adjacent walls of the container body and the closure to coact with one another as the closure is longitudinally urged from a closed position to an open position. A cylindrical plug seal extends from a top wall of the closure to engage the open end of the container body when the closure is in the closed position. Abstract: A snap-on tamper resistant lid having a dual locking system to retain the lid on the container. The lid has a top and a depending skirt. A plurality of beads extend inwardly from the skirt and serve as a primary locking device to retain the lid on a container. A plurality of secondary locking ribs are hinged to the skirt below the level of the beads. The secondary locking ribs have a distal end or edge biased toward the container. Upon initial installation the locking ribs are positioned below the container lip. To remove the lid one must remove the tear strip and the locking ribs. The beads still serve to secure the lid to the container.
