A ring is disposed circumferentially about the container, wherein the ring comprises at least one post which is configured to be inserted into and removed from the at least one insertion point and retained within the retention region. At least one of the ring and the lid are circumferentially rotatable between a locked position, wherein the at least one post is within the at least one retention region and an unlocked position, wherein the at least one post is within the at least one insertion point.

Abstract: A two-piece tamper-evident band assembly for use with a container and closure combination, where the container has a peripheral collar and the closure has a skirt, is shown. The tamper-evident band assembly includes a breakaway band frangibly connected to a staying ring. The staying ring has decreased flexibility where it connects to the container and closure combination, which prevents the assembly from deforming in a manner that will cause the assembly to fail to indicate that the container has been opened. The tamper-evident band assembly also indicates whether the container has been compromised without requiring modification of the container or the closure and can be applied to existing container and closure combinations that lack a tamper-evident system, allowing the assembly to be used with a variety of container and closure combinations.

Abstract: A tamper evident closure employs a frangible tamper evident finger for initially retaining a lid in a closed position relative to a closure body. In response to an initial opening of the lid, the finger is separated from the lid and retained in a volume at least partly defined by the closure body. As the finger is connected to the lid by a frangible bridge in a confirmation window, upon separation of the finger from the lid, the now open confirmation window provides immediate and ready indication that the lid has been opened.

Abstract: Described is a closure adapted to be fit on top of containers such as bottles. In various embodiments, the closure may include an outer skirt and an inner skirt. The closure may be engageable with a container neck. In some embodiments, a region of weakness may be adapted to break and/or deform upon an attempt to remove the closure from the container neck. In some embodiments, after the break and/or deformation, the closure may no longer be engageable with the container neck.

Abstract: A child-resistant lift-off cap for a container is adapted to be difficult to unseat independently to open the container. An overlay portion associated with the cap is adapted for use to lift the cap from a container to unseat it. The overlay portion has a thumb tab and is deformable to engage and lift the seated cap only when the thumb tab is lifted. The overlay portion raises independently of the cap when the deformable portion is not deformed into engagement with the cap. Alternatively, a lift-top cap having a slot through it, the slot having a first opening near an edge of the cap to be lifted to unseat the cap and a second opening. A slide in the slot has a first end biased to be flush with or recessed into the first opening and a second end biased to normally protrude out of the second opening. The second end of the slide can be depressed against the bias of the slide to displace the first end of the slide out of the first opening to function as a thumb tab to assist in lifting the cap from a container.

The cap (4) is provided with a first engaging member (10) and the collar (3) is provided with a corresponding second engaging member (21). Adjacent said engaging member the collar (3) is provided with a resiliently deformable integral push tab (24), characterised in that the first and second engaging members (10, 21) are adapted to engage by rotation of the cap (4). It is an advantage of one embodiment that the cap of the closure does not require an internal screw thread. The cap may therefore be simpler and less expensive to manufacture. In addition, the two components, e.g., the cap and the collar, can be assembled prior to application onto the container.

Abstract: An apparatus for opening sealed packaging, including three parts, a pouring nozzle having a flange, a cylindrical cutting element and a screwcap. According to this invention, all three parts of the apparatus are produced in one piece as a semi-finished product. The teeth of the cutting element protrude into the pouring nozzle, while the screwcap is held on the flat edge of the cutting element. The three parts are connected to one another via predetermined breaking point bridges. This invention reduces the production costs and simplifies the assembly and the systems which are required for this purpose.

The cap 5 seals with a surface 4 on the inside neck of the vessel and is retained in place by fingers 8 engaging under a lip 3. The fingers 8 are retained in position by a retaining ring 12. Cooperating sets of cammed surfaces 10 and 13 on cap 5 and ring 12 act on rotation of the ring to axially separate the ring 12 from the cap 5, releasing the fingers 8 from under the lip 3 and permitting the lid to be removed. A drinking vessel with a wide neck can be reliably sealed without the necessity to provide screw threads on the outer surface of the vessel 1.

The flip top closure is attached to a neck finish, fitment or other container spout and includes a flip top that is hingedly attached to a depending sidewall. The child-resistant mechanism includes a retention tab that engages a retention bead when the flip top is closed, but allows the top to be opened by the alignment of the retention tab with a retention lug, located on the neck finish or fitment, over which the retention tab may slide when upward force is applied to a thumb tab attached to the top. The interaction of the retention tab and the retention lug when the flip top is closed prevents the closure from being automatically aligned for opening, after the closure is closed.

Once separated from the lid and lid base, the guard ring is movable between a guarding position in which it obstructs access to the lid, and a revealing position in which the lid can be rotated or lifted upward, away from the opening.

Continued rotation of the cap releases the locked flop top to allow the container to be fully opened. A set of cams on the container neck work in conjunction with annular beads to first allow partially opening of the flip top into the venting position and then allowing it to fully open.

Abstract: The closure assembly of FIGS. 1 and 3 comprises a container 1, a cap 2 having a skirt portion 3, and a captive band 4 attached via a tamper-evident tear-off band 5 and a pair of frangible connections 6 and 7 to the skirt portion 3. A tab 10 on one end of the tear-off band 5 provides a grip for the fingers in removing the band. The container has a neck, an open top and a horizontal retainer track thereon for affixing a collar ring thereto. Abstract: A snap-on tamper resistant lid having a dual locking system to retain the lid on the container. The lid has a top and a depending skirt. A plurality of beads extend inwardly from the skirt and serve as a primary locking device to retain the lid on a container. A plurality of secondary locking ribs are hinged to the skirt below the level of the beads. The secondary locking ribs have a distal end or edge biased toward the container. Upon initial installation the locking ribs are positioned below the container lip. To remove the lid one must remove the tear strip and the locking ribs. The beads still serve to secure the lid to the container.

The safety cap comprises a collar and a corresponding cover arranged for movement between a locked position at which it cannot be removed from the collar and a removable position at which it may be readily removed therefrom. In order to overcome the normal frictional engagement between the collar and the cover, it is necessary to rotate one of the components while restraining movement of the other component.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tamper-evident closure cap for a container having a neck and an opening defined in the neck. The closure cap of the invention includes an annular skirt member adapted to be secured to the neck of the container to prevent removal of the closure cap from the container, and a closure member hingedly connected to the skirt member for pivotal movement between a closed position whereat the closure member closes the opening of the container and an open position whereat the closure member permits access to the opening. A manually graspable tab is fixedly connected to the closure member for moving same from the closed position to the open position. The closure cap further includes a tamper-indicating member removably connected to the skirt member in overlying relation with respect to the tab and adapted to prohibit initial opening of the closure member prior to removal of the tamper indicating member.

Abstract: An apparatus for containing material, the apparatus including a container and a container closure. The container has a main body portion and a generally cylindrical top portion, the generally cylindrical top portion including a first generally cylindrical closure cooperating portion and a second generally cylindrical closure cooperating portion adjacent the first closure portion. The first closure cooperating portion has a first diameter and a first projecting bead and the second cooperating portion has a second diameter unequal to the first diameter and has a tab cooperating portion. The second cooperating portion also defines an access opening to an interior portion of the container. The container closure includes a body having an axis, the body having first and second cylindrical walls. The first cylindrical wall extends in a first direction about the axis and defines a first receptacle operable to cooperate with the first portion of the container.
