  • Patent number: 8936168
Abstract: Closing element for sealing holes subjected to internal pressure includes a hollow cylindrical main body insertable into the hole substantially without play, and a hat-like spreading element pressable into the main body. The spreading element applies radial pressure to the inner wall of the main body in the installed state, wherein the main body is spread and pressed against the wall of the hole. The main body has a closing bottom having a circumferential radial ring surface and a slightly conical cone surface connected thereto. During operation, the closing bottom is pressed against the end face of the spreading element by the internal pressure and is bent over inner and outer edges of the end face and deformed so as to expand radially. This results in strengthened anchoring of the closure in the material of the component, and self-reinforcement of the press-out force required to remove the closure.

Abstract: An improved wine bottle closure and vacuum pump apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus provides an improved bulb structure to be used for pumping and storage purposes, the bulb remaining with a closure plug even after pumping is completed and the wine is to be stored for later consumption. The bulb structure can be collapsed in two different positions including a first position that maintains overall height of the bulb structure and a second position that enables the bulb structure to be shortened in height as an optional feature. The bulb structure provides an enlarged central section that is much larger in diameter than the lower end portion. The lower end portion provides a closure plug for fitting the opening of a wine bottle.

  • Patent number: 8905252
Abstract: Drink containers include a liquid container and a cap assembly removably coupled to the liquid container. Cap assemblies include a base, a drink spout extending from the base, a closure configured to be removably coupled relative to the drink spout in a closed position to selectively restrict dispensing of drink liquid through the drink spout and to selectively permit dispensing of drink liquid through the drink spout when removed from the drink spout. Cap assemblies further may include a handle extending from the base and configured to selectively retain the closure in a stowed position when the closure is selectively removed from the drink spout. In some embodiments, the handle defines a closed perimeter and the closure is received within the closed perimeter when positioned in the stowed position. Some embodiments further include a tether that couples the closure to the cap assembly or to the liquid container.

Abstract: An oxygen absorbing cap includes a hollow chamber, a removable top that is adapted to screw into or snap into the cap so as to close the hollow chamber and, when removed, to provide access to the hollow chamber, an oxygen absorber adapted to fit into the hollow chamber, and a waterproof breathable film (e.g., e-PTFE microporous film) located in the hollow chamber between the oxygen absorber and any liquid in the bottle and adapted to prevent the liquid in the bottle from contacting the oxygen absorber but allowing gases in the bottle to contact the oxygen absorber. The cap may also be used with a valve that limits the amount of air that contacts the liquid to the air that replaces the poured liquid or used with a pump that replaces the poured liquid with oxygen-free air so that air never contacts liquid in the bottle.
