Publication number: 20130062304Abstract: Closures having an integrated over center latching assembly including an end wall, a skirt wall depending from the end wall, an outlet opening associated with the end wall and an over center latching assembly are disclosed. The over center latching assembly includes a link pivotally coupled to the closure at a first pivot point, a lever pivotally coupled to the link at a second pivot point, a closing member pivotally coupled to the closure at a third pivot point and pivotally coupled to the lever at a forth pivot point and a biasing spring coupled between the first pivot point and the fourth pivot point. The link and the lever are configured to move the over center latching assembly between a first position and a second position and the closing member is configured to close the outlet opening when the over center latching assembly is moved to the second position.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2011Publication date: March 14, 2013Inventors: David O. Patent number: 8286813Abstract: A device to be detachably mounted on the neck of a bottle in replacement of the bottle's screw cap, and which as mounted provides a reversible closure function by which a flow communication to the interior of the bottle is shifted between open and closing modes, the device including a mounting part (1; 1?; 1?) having an internal thread which engages an external thread formed on the bottle's neck, and a handle (7; 7?; 7?) which is journalled in the mounting part for rotation. The handle carries a head (9; 9?; 9?) which in result of rotation of the handle upwards/outwards from the bottle in a vertical plane provides access to the mouth of a canal (15; 15?; 15?) running through the mounting part, and which head further includes a seal (17; 17?; 36) which, in result of rotation of the handle downwards/inwards towards the bottle, is positioned for closing the canal through the mounting part.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2008Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Inventor: Tore Eklund

Publication number: 20110290753Abstract: A foldable water bottle has a base, a folding body and a handle device. The folding body is made of silica gel, is mounted on the base and has a connecting ring, a folding segment and a neck. The folding segment is formed on and protrudes from the connecting ring and has multiple folding rings. The neck is formed on the folding segment and has a spout and two inserting mounts. The handle device is detachably connected to the folding body and has an inserting handle and a lid. The inserting handle is connected securely to the neck and has a handle mount and a grip. The lid is connected to the inserting handle and is used to close an opening top of the neck.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2010Publication date: December 1, 2011Inventor: Ronald TUAN

Patent number: 5578494Abstract: The present invention is a method for opening and closing a cap pivotally mounted on a container for storing reagents for use in an automated analytical instrument. The cap has one end for sealing the container and a tab extending from the other end for pivoting the cap. The method comprises the steps of positioning a closed container adjacent an actuating device mounted on the analytical system. The method further comprises the steps of projecting the actuating device against the top of the tab to pivotally open the cap to a position sufficiently vertical for aspirating reagent from the container, and retracting the actuating device from the cap to a position above the pivotal mounting thereof. The method comprises the final step of causing relative motion between the cap and the actuating device so that the actuating device drags along the top of the cap pivotally closing the cap to provide a sufficient seal on the container preventing evaporation of the reagent therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1996Date of Patent: November 26, 1996Assignee: Abbott LaboratoriesInventors: Frederic L. Patent number: 5190176Abstract: A child resistant dispensing closure having a cap and a spout mounted thereon for rotation about a substantially horizontal axis. The upper surface of the spout is provided with a plurality of ribs, each of which has a distinct energy plane. Only one rib, usually, the rearmost, allows sufficient purchase to produce the force vector necessary to initiate rotation of the spout when a manual force is applied thereto. The cap includes a cylindrical skirt with a frusto-conical section extending upwardly therefrom. A protective flange extends upwardly about the perimeter of the upper end of the frusto-conical section to deter unauthorized access to the spout. The upper wall of said cap is canted at an acute angle to a horizontal plane passing through the cylindrical skirt of the cap, so that the spout is further recessed within the protective flange.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1991Date of Patent: March 2, 1993Assignee: Polytop CorporationInventor: Donald H.
