  • Patent number: 11957229
Abstract: An aluminum roll-on container, and a method of manufacturing the same, retains a roller sphere for applying a product onto an external surface. The roller sphere can both rotate and move within the container, and a chamber is formed between the container and the roller sphere. In a first position of the roller sphere, the chamber forms a continuous volume with the interior volume of the container such that the chamber receives a product stored in the container volume. Then, in a second position, the chamber forms a continuous volume with the external environment such that rotation of the roller sphere transfers the product from the chamber to an external surface. A relationship between the roller sphere and an upper opening of the container allows the roller sphere to be pressed into the container and then retained in the container.

Abstract: A closure cap and method of making the same wherein an annular or ring-shaped gasket is injection molded onto the inner surface of a cap shell formed of plastic or metal. The annular or ring-shaped gasket includes radially extending tabs integrally formed therewith, one of said tabs being formed at a location wherein the plastic melt is fed to an annular gasket-forming channel in a mold core and another of said tabs being formed at the location wherein plastic melt is discharged from said channel. Preferably, said other tab includes a cold well formation which communicates with the annular gasket through a connecting portion of reduced cross-sectional area with respect to the cross-sectional areas of both the gasket and the cold well formation.

Abstract: A novel method for sealing a plastic closure to a container flange using an elastomeric gasket. A plurality of annular sealing bands are positioned on the diametric sealing surface of the closure on which the gasket rests. As the closure is threaded into the container, the annular sealing bands become embedded within the gasket to improve the seal and overcome the negative sealing effects of the parting line flash present on the closure portion of the seal gland as a result of the manufacturing process.

Abstract: A packaging for an implantable medical device such as a heart valve wherein the implantable medical device is immersed in a liquid medium. The packaging comprises ajar and a lid assembly having a seal and a ridge therebetween, the ridge being adapted to contact the seal. At least one circumferential leg is interposed between the lid assembly and the jar. The leg maintains a predetermined spacing between the lid and the jar and may be loaded in compression. The lid assembly may comprise a lid and an overcap. The overcap may turn independently of the lid and may apply compressive pressure to the lid over the ridge and seal. The lid and overcap may be coupled together by, for example, mating snap hooks. At least one of the lid or overcap may have a plurality of snap hooks. At least one of the plurality of snap hooks may be of different length than other of the snap hooks, whereby an asymmetric force may be applied to the lid when the overcap is loosened from the jar.

Abstract: A closure for connection to a container with a threaded neck portion includes an upper wall with a lower surface and a skirt formed integrally with and extending generally downwardly from the upper wall. An internal helical thread is formed on an inner surface of the skirt for engaging the threaded neck portion to thereby secure the closure to the container. An inner annular seal extends generally axially downwardly from the upper wall to sealingly engage an inner surface of the neck portion. The inner annular seal has an inner seal apex area and a downwardly sloped surface extending generally downwardly and away from the upper wall to the inner seal apex area. A gas barrier seal has an annular sealing bead positioned between the inner seal apex area and the upper wall inner surface for sealingly engaging the inner surface of the neck portion. The downwardly sloped surface of the inner annular seal holds the annular sealing bead at least adjacent the lower surface of the upper wall.

  • Patent number: 6299608
Abstract: A bottle having a sterility seal and a method for producing same are disclosed. The bottle, which can be configured to retain a medicament in powder or tablet form, features a protective cap configured to engage a transfer assembly associated with the bottle. The cap includes one or more raised ridges on an interior surface engageable with a portion of the transfer assembly. A band or layer configuration of a sealing material such as silicone is applied to the transfer assembly prior to insertion of the cap thereover. As the cap comes into surface contact with the sealing material, the ridges cause the material to “roll up” into a toroidal O-ring configuration, thereby forming a seal between the cap and the bottle adapted to the dimensional variations of those components.

Abstract: A cap (18,120) and a thrust washer (62,128) seal a flexible silicone dispensing tube (10,118) to a neck (20,114) of a container (12,116) which holds a fluid to be dispensed. The thrust washer is shaped to inhibit contact between a lip (50,110) of the dispensing tube and the interior of the cap so that the soft material of the dispensing tube is not damaged when the cap is screwed on to the neck of the container. The thrust washer slides on the cap as the cap is screwed on to limit sliding movement relative to the dispensing tube. A dust cover (24,138) protects the dispensing tube during shipment and storage. The dust cover is attached to the cap by a frangible portion (66) which is broken prior to dispensing the cleaning fluid. A lower projecting ring (86,134) on the thrust washer prevents the dust cover from compressing and damaging the lip of the dispensing tube.
