  • Patent number: 9340329
Abstract: A closure system for a drinking bottle or other container is disclosed. The closure system comprises a bottle and a bottle closure. The bottle closure, in turn, comprises among its components a cap interface manipulated directly by the user's hand, a platform that translates vertically in relation to the cap interface, and a flexible annular stopper body directly manipulated by the platform. When the bottle closure is placed on the open bottle neck and the cap interface is pushed downward toward the bottom of the bottle, a lever-based mechanism forces opposite upward movement of the platform. The platform squeezes the stopper body, and at the end of the downward pushing motion, the system is locked in a static position. The squeezed stopper body forms a liquid-tight seal with the bottle, while holding potential energy via elastic deformation. From this sealed position, the cap interface may be radially twisted relative to the bottle, releasing the locked platform and the stopper's potential energy.

Abstract: The present invention is the bottle stopper which mainly includes a body, a plug and a jacket. The body has an expansion spread by the plug and outwardly confronting with the jacket. The plug comprises two necks for two different engagements alternatively engaged with the body to provide a locking means and a resealing means for bottle neck. The body is structurally retained between the plug and the jacket being assembled as a unit to form the bottle, stopper. When the bottle stopper is initially inserted into a bottle neck and pressed to position at the first engagement, the locking means provides a maximum expansion to lock around the bottle neck. And it has an appearance and a function of indicating whether the bottle neck has previously opened or the stopper has been used. When the bottle stopper is pressed downward positioning at the second engagement, the resealing means provides a slightly expansion for allowing to initially release and reseal the bottle neck.

Abstract: An improved stopper featuring an o-ring. The o-ring is sandwiched between two cylindrical bodies. The surfaces that contact the o-ring are chamfered. The lower cylindrical body has a boss that extends through the center of the o-ring. The cylindrical bodies are rigidly connected by a connecting link that travels through the center of the upper body and is rigidly attached to the lower body. A portion of the connecting link has external threads that mate with an internally threaded hole that extends through the center of the upper cylindrical body. By rotating a handle attached to the connecting link, the chamfered surfaces compress the o-ring, forcing it to expand outward and increase in diameter. Once inside a bottle, the handle is rotated, the o-ring expands and presses against the inner wall of the bottle and the bottle is sealed.

  • Patent number: 6536618
Abstract: A bottle plug having a body, a plug and an elastomer member. The body defines a space having an inner circumference that forms a retracted surface that projects inwardly with respect to an axis of the body to define an expansion portion. The plug includes a leg adapted to engage the retracted surface of the body. The elastomer member is configured to receive the combination of the body and plug and further includes an outer circumference which is arranged to be received by a bottle neck. Insertion of the plug into the expansion portion urges the outer circumference of the elastomer member to expand radially to thereby seal the inner circumference of the bottle neck.

  • Patent number: 6419104
Abstract: The invention disclosed and claimed is an improved plug with an internal anchor. The plug has particular utility in masking openings in parts to be coated. Generally, the plug comprises a compressible, resilient plug body and a compression mechanism. The compression mechanism compresses the plug body between an internal plug anchor and an opposed plug compression surface. The compressive force causes the plug circumference to increase forming a tight seal between the plug and walls forming the opening. The internal anchor design and absence of any axial opening through the entire plug body prevent fluids and other coating materials from passing through the internal plug body and into the interior of the part to be coated thereby avoiding costly damage to the part.

  • Patent number: 5779085
Abstract: This invention is a new device that can be used to plug perforations in materials. This plug comprises a cylinder plug with a tapered bore partially extending through the plug from one end. A cylinder pin that is tapered substantially the same as the plug will fit in the plug after installation is complete. A shear flange surrounds the pin so that when the pin is installed in the plug, the shear flange is against a plug flange. The pin is adhered to the plug by means such as a thin layer of epoxy or glue which allows the pin and plug to be handled as a single component. The pin is designed so that while in this position, there is no significant radial expansion of the plug. The pin has a pattern of holes or grooves that extend the entire length of the pin in order to allow for the expansion of any trapped fluids in the bore of the plug. The pin can have a groove along the outer diameter to allow for easier handling of the pin.
