  • Patent number: 11414246
Abstract: A beverage container for hot or cold beverages, where the lid and base are connected via a glass joint. The glass joint forms a seal between the lid and base and eliminates the need for a synthetic material to form such a seal. The base has a double wall construction forming a cavity between the two walls. One or more of the surfaces facing the cavity are coated with a thermally reflective coating, which along with the glass materials, reduces heat transfer to the external surroundings. The lid is formed by a glass shell with an internal cavity, where the internal surfaces defining the cavity are optionally coated with a thermally reflective coating to further insulate the beverage container.

  • Patent number: 11077233
Abstract: Processing an evacuated blood sample collection tube or other vessel by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition to apply a tie coating or layer (289), a barrier coating or layer (288), and optionally one or more additional coatings or layers. The tie coating or layer of SiOxCy is applied under partial vacuum and, while maintaining the partial vacuum unbroken in the lumen, the barrier coating or layer is applied. Then optionally, while maintaining the partial vacuum unbroken in the lumen, a pH protective coating or layer of SiOxCy can be applied. As a result of this processing, a coated vessel is produced having a lower gas permeation rate constant into the lumen than a corresponding vessel made by the same process except breaking the partial vacuum in the lumen between applying the tie coating or layer and applying the barrier coating or layer. Retention features are also described for keeping the vessels stoppered during exposure to reduced ambient pressure.

  • Patent number: 10883951
Abstract: Arrangement and method for detecting damage to an inner coating of a container is provided. The arrangement has been devised which is influenced by damage to the inner coating and/or actuation of plant parts (shut-off valves) and/or by electrical changes in the current paths. This is accomplished such that the latter generates a reproducible signal excursion which can be assigned to the respective activity and therefore to the corresponding parts of the plant, such as a container. Thus, by means of the measuring arrangement, both slowly changing values, which arise as a function of process-induced slowly changing process parameters, such as temperature, concentration, conductivity, and other gradually occurring damage to an inner coating, and also short-term significant changes of values are detected, which are brought about e.g. by pumping operations or by connecting together plant parts, which influence the electrical properties of the system. The detected signal excursion is interpreted.

Abstract: A stopper includes a hollow casing with a resilient, ribbed sleeve that forms a valve seat. An interior plunger has a tip configured to mesh with the valve seat when in its down position and to open the valve when in its up position. An upper flange in the plunger provides an additional seal and is visible through a transparent wall in the casing. A vacuum in the bottle draws the plunger downward increasing the pressure with which the plunger presses against the seat, thus securing a long-lasting seal that maintains the vacuum in the bottle. When the vacuum is released, the resilience of the seat structure pushes the plunger upward, rendering it visible as an indicator of vacuum through the transparent wall. An opening in the casing allows connection to a pump to create the vacuum in the bottle.

Abstract: A reusable bottle cap having identification means coupled to a novel bottle cap cover is disclosed and described herein. In a specific embodiment, the bottle cap has a stem having a series of successive U-shaped grooves or ridges. A slight taper in the stein provides that bottles of varying diameters can be accommodated by a single design. Further, the design is made from pliable polyethylene or polyurethane material to form an effective seal to the mouth of bottles of varying diameter. In a preferred embodiment, the novel bottle cap cover is generally bell (or alternatively barrel or conical) shaped and has a crown, a mid-portion, and a mouth portion. The mouth portion further has a lip wherein an inner recessed groove is machined around a circumference thereof. Additionally, the bottle cap comprises a flanged ring portion having a complementary lip to mate with the groove of the bottle cap cover.
