Screw Patents (Class 217/95)
  • Patent number: 9933096
Abstract: A locking-ring closure for fastening lids on containers has: at least one screw lock and further has an open locking ring (1) having a U- or V-shaped cross section, bearing blocks (3) and (4) arranged at the ends of the locking ring, one of which bearing blocks has a through-passage hole and the other an internal thread, a screw (2) which extends through the through-passage hole in the one bearing block (3) and engages by way of its thread in the internal thread of the other bearing block (4), wherein the screw extends beyond the width of this bearing block and, on the portion that emerges from the bearing block, carries a fixed threaded ring (5) enclosing said portion. The screw (2) has, at its end opposite the screw head (6), a portion (8) adjacent to the threaded ring and arranged on that side of the threaded ring (5) that faces the screw head, which portion (8) has no thread engaging in the internal thread of the bearing block (4) and extends at least over the width of the bearing block.

  • Patent number: 9808658
Abstract: An installation for supporting a worker on a tank: The tank includes a plurality of vertical staves held to define a peripheral wall by a plurality of hoops. A top bracket at the top hoop has a tie-on receiving fixture for attachment to a worker's tie-on at the outer end of the bracket. The tie-on bracket on the top hoop is shaped to not pivot up and down around the top hoop. At least one lower hoop is located on the side of the tank. Each lower bracket at each lower hoop has a tie-on receiving fixture for attachment to a worker's tie-on at the outer end of the bracket. Each lower bracket is shaped and positioned for being able to be pivoted up and down around its lower hoop. A threaded end region on the end of a hoop segment passes through a hole in the respective bracket. A nut is tightened on the threaded end region for holding the bracket to a junction fixture on the end of a respective hoop segment.

  • Patent number: 5114032
Abstract: The invention provides a plug for sealing substances in holes drilled in wood. The plug has a body of generally circular cross section and a thread portion helically wound around the body between inner and outer end portions thereof. The thread portion has a leading face facing towards the inner end portion and a trailing face facing towards the outer end portion, the leading face being inclined at a shallower angle to a central axis of the body than the trailing face. The plug can be driven into the hole by hammering, but is extracted from the hole by unscrewing in a normal manner. The thread portion is designed to permit relatively easy movement into the hole without rotation, but requires rotation for extraction from the hole. Preferably, the thread portion is flexible and the thread portion is within a shallow conical periphery. The outer end portion has a recess to receive a complementary driver to rotate the plug for extraction.

  • Patent number: 4262391
Abstract: A hose clamp includes a coupler body and spring wire. The coupler is substantially triangular in cross section, having a pair of passageway interconnecting two surfaces. The wire, having a head on one end, is routed through one passageway, around the hose and then through the remaining passageway being secured by a thrust washer to the opposite coupler surface.

  • Patent number: 4217990
Abstract: A pair of elongated clamp blocks are joined together in laterally spaced, parallel relationship by means of a pair of vertically spaced clamp screws which serve to move the blocks toward and away from each other. Each clamp block is provided with a transverse slot extending longitudinally inward from one end thereof at an oblique angle with respect to the screws. The blocks are disposed adjacent the outer side of a tank with the slots extending angularly outward away from each other. An elongated flat strap is looped about the tank and each end portion thereof is threaded outwardly through the slot in the associated clamp block, then is bent inwardly around the inner portion of the block facing the other block of the pair, and the terminal portion of the strap end is doubled back between the looped portion of the strap and the outer surface of the tank. The screws then are rotated to draw the clamp blocks toward each other, whereby to tighten the strap about the periphery of the tank.
