  • Patent number: 5860715
Abstract: An enclosure for housing electronic controls and devices that provides exceptional access to all sides of the enclosure and is both secure and aesthetically pleasing. The enclosure has a frame, semi-cylindrical doors, a top assembly, and a mounting base. Each of the doors has a door retaining member on its inner lower surfaces which engages and is supported by a receiving member mounted to a lower portion of the frame. The doors may be pivoted open and closed about the retaining and receiving members or may be completely removed from the base by simply lifting the doors off of the frame. Removal of the doors allows unobstructed access to the interior of the enclosure. The top assembly mounts on top of the frame and moves between a closed position and an open position. The top assembly includes a rim which overlaps and engages the top surfaces of the doors to securely retain the doors in the closed position. An opening and closing system mounted on the frame supports the top assembly in the open position.

  • Patent number: 5845800
Abstract: A filler cap assembly includes a sleeve welded to a tank wall, and a non-indexing filler cap. The cap is formed with top and bottom members, each member having an outwardly bevelled surface opposing a corresponding surface on the other member. An elastic O-ring is positioned between the two surfaces. The top member and base member are held together by an axially extending shaft, with a spring biasing apart the two members. The shaft is connected in a hinged manner to a cam lever. Activation of the cam lever brings the two opposing surfaces together, forcing the O-ring outward to form a seal with the sleeve. The filler cap and the sleeve's inner wall are provided with additional features which maintain the filler cap in the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5823411
Abstract: A locking device for motor vehicle roof trunks has a bottom part and a lid. On two sides of the trunk (1), which extend parallel relative to one another, the lid (3) is pivotable by two hinges around a hinge axis relative to the bottom part (2). The hinges each include a first hinge part (14) associated with the lid (3) and a second hinge part (15) associated with the bottom part (2). All hinges have a common actuating rod (23) which includes hinge pins (30) movable parallel to the direction of the hinge axis (12). Each hinge pin (30) is movably guided in a bearing housing (21) associated with the bottom part (2) and may engage a sleeve (17) associated with the first hinge part (14). A cylinder lock (34) enables all hinges associated with one side to be actuated centrally by actuating the actuating rod 23 towards the closed or open position.

  • Patent number: 5762224
Abstract: A re-enterable environmentally sealed enclosure for housing circuitry and/or cable components of a communication network employs a removable cover attached to an enclosure base by a pivoting cam-tracking system. The tracking configuration positions the cover in a manner that, as it approaches the enclosure base when being closed, a seal located in the cover is evenly compressed along its entire perimeter against a corresponding mating surface on the base, thereby distributing the compressive force equally across the entire seal, with any shear forces substantially eliminated. A single tensioning system is provided adjacent the cam-tracking system, so that the tracking system does not operate as a counter-lever to the tensioning system, and visa versa, thereby improving the distribution of force across the seal.

  • Patent number: 5586670
Abstract: A device to prevent the unauthorized removal of a closure from the mouth of a bottle having an annular ring adjacent to the mouth about the bottle neck. A cap portion fits over the end of the bottle neck and receives within it the annular ring, the bottle mouth and the closure. A locking mechanism housing is formed adjacent the cap and communicates with the bore in the cap by means of a slot. In a first embodiment a pawl means is pivotally mounted in the housing and is spring biased to extend through the slot into the bore. A second embodiment uses a cam controlled spring mechanism to slideably position pawl means in the cap portion or withdraw it therefrom. A tapered leading edge of the pawl means causes the pawl to be displaced into the housing as the annular ring of the bottle passes the pawl. The spring forces the pawl in behind the ring to prevent removal of the cap.

  • Patent number: 4986097
Abstract: A locking device for tank filler tubes is described, comprising a sleeve member for insertion in the filler tube to provide smooth walls, and an annular shaped locking collar that slides inside the sleeve and fastens through the sleeve to the inside wall of the filler tube. The locking collar does not have to be removed in order to fill the tank. Two disks, having off-center openings large enough for a filler hose nozzle, are arranged one above the other in the top of the locking collar so that the top disk can be rotated to allow the off-center openings to be aligned for a filler nozzle. A cylinder lock prevents rotation of the top disk when in the locked position. An alternative embodiment of the invention does not fit inside the tank filler tube, but rather is welded or joined to it. This alternative uses a padlock which prevents a cap from being rotated to a position which aligns openings in the device, allowing insertion of a filler hose nozzle.

The flange is made so that it tightly engages a portion of the end wall against which it is drawn, and a protector ledge is provided adjacent the flange edge to prevent insertion of a pry tool.

Abstract: A safety lock for a seat belt buckle includes a housing for receiving and containing the seat belt buckle therein and a locking portion for releasably retaining the housing in a closed position wherein the buckle is substantially enclosed therein. When the safety lock is assembled in the closed position on a seat belt buckle and the buckle is utilized for detachably interconnecting first and second seat belt sections, the safety lock restricts access to the buckle in a manner which normally prevents a small child from disconnecting the seat belt sections but nevertheless permits the seat belt sections to be easily disconnected by an adult.

Abstract: A universal computer power switch lockout apparatus for permanent restrained affixation upon the exterior surface of the cabinetry of an office computer. The apparatus is positioned at a location immediately adjacent to the computer's on-off switch assembly field without penetrating the cabinetry upon installation thereof, to preclude access, as desired, to the computer's power switch, to in turn prevent unauthorized operation of the computer. A combination of flange members emanate from a mounting bracket which is positioned and adhesively affixed to the computer cabinetry surface surrounding the computer's power switch assembly field. A lockable switch enclosure is telescopically and slidingly mated with the mounting bracket to alternatively provide or restrict access to the computer's power switch enclosed thereunder.
