Key Controlled Patents (Class 220/210)
  • Patent number: 4073168
Abstract: A device for use with a cap having a rubber plug which is inserted into the mouth of a container and which can be tightened and loosened by the turn of a lever provided thereto. The device comprises a cap cover loosely but undetachably fitted over the cap so as to enclose its lever, and a pin slidably supported by the cap cover for movement into and out of engagement with the cap lever. The pin can be padlocked out of engagement with the cap lever, so that the cap is loosenable by the manual turn of the cap cover only when the padlock is opened to permit the pin to move into engagement with the cap lever.

Abstract: An anti-theft cap for a screwthreaded base. Said cap comprises a plate provided with a tapped aperture complementary to the screwthread of the base, a body journalled on said plate and in which body a lock is mounted. Said lock comprises a catch which, for one position of the lock, is at a distance from the axis of the cap equal to that of a stop integral with said plate, and, for at least one other position of the lock, is at a different distance. Said stop is elastically movable and adapted to move under the action of the catch when the screwing torque transmitted by said catch exceeds a given value.

  • Patent number: 4047744
Abstract: A lockable gas tank cap device comprises a cover hingedly affixed to a vehicle in the area of the open end of a gasoline tank of the vehicle in a manner whereby it covers the open end in a closed position and is free from the open end in an open position. A spring-biased pin is biased by a spring and slidably mounted on the vehicle in proximity with the cover for locking the cover in closed position under the force of the spring. A cable is affixed to the pin and extends into the vehicle for moving the pin against the force of the spring to release the cover for movement to its open position.

  • Patent number: 4037827
Abstract: A food product mixer with a pair of door openings in its front panel includes a door mechanism with a pair of slideable doors. Each door is slideable on a pair of sliding rods toward and away from the opening with which it is associated. Means are provided to cause both doors to slide simultaneously on their sliding rods to a closed position in which each door closes its associated opening. The sliding rods on which each door slides are rotatable to separately lock the door when it is in its closed position, as well as to separately unlock it. An unlocked door slides back along its rods, away from the opening, due to food pressure applied theron by food in the mixer, thereby enabling the food to be discharged through the opening. Either door may be unlocked with the other door remaining in the locked position. The rotation of the rods to lock and unlock a door may be achieved manually or by actuated means.

  • Patent number: 4035921
Abstract: A lockable dip stick assembly for an oil filling spout comprises an elastomeric stopper disposed between an outer compression cap and an inner compression plate which carries a dip stick. A stud extends coaxially through the cap and stopper and threadably engages the compression plate. A bell housing supported for rotation on the outer end of the stud contains a key operated lock cylinder which has a bolt radially movable between uncoupled and coupled positions corresponding, respectively, to locked and unlocked positions of the lock cylinder. In a coupled position the bolt is connected in driving relation to a drive cup mounted in fixed position on the outer end of the stud and enclosed within the housing. Rotation of the key to and beyond an unlocked position causes rotation of the stud relative to the compression plate.

  • Patent number: 4030628
Abstract: A tamper-proof two-piece cover for container spout caps having a pair of collars which are detachably secured by fasteners about the spout of the container and a top which when latched to the collars completely encloses the container cap and the collar securing fasteners. Each collar has a pair of threaded tubular members disposed at its periphery. A pair of bolts are received in the threaded tubular members to secure the collars about a container spout. A top is hinged to one collar and rotatable about the hinge to a position where the top completely encloses the container cap and the bolts. A latch secures the top to one of the collars so that the top may be locked in place over the cap. The collar members may be configured to fit standard sized tank spouts and the inter-collar spacing is further adjustable to fit non-standard sized tank spouts by simply varying the degree to which the retaining bolts are screwed into the threaded tubular members.

  • Patent number: 4028914
Abstract: A lockable container spout closure includes a dished, externally threaded main cap adapted for threaded insertion into an internally threaded spout. A secondary cap covers the main cap and is rotatably secured thereto. A key-operable lock is mounted in the secondary cap and includes a fixed cylinder disposed in a cavity defined by the main and secondary caps. A key-rotatable barrel is located centrally in the cylinder and has a cam fixed to an end thereof and operable in response to rotation of the barrel between lock and unlock positions to shift a lock member between a first position wherein it will clear a stop projecting from the main cap upon rotation of the secondary cap, and a second position wherein it will engage the stop to thereby effect rotation of the main cap upon rotation of the secondary cap.

  • Patent number: 4013191
Abstract: A lockable closure cap has a displaceable catch projection. A centrally located lock cylinder is supported in a cylindrical socket located within the cap. The cylindrical socket has an eccentric collar on which a locking ring carrying the catch projection is supported, and the cylindrical socket is rotatable with the lock cylinder to displace the locking ring via its eccentric collar. A sealing ring is supported on the upper edge of the outer socket for providing a liquid-tight seal while allowing automatic pressure compensation.

  • Patent number: 4000633
Abstract: A locking gas cap for a threaded filler neck having a sealing lip extending peripherally about its axis, the cap comprising a closure member threaded to engage and close the filler neck, a gasket on the closure member for engaging and sealing against the lip, an outer shell providing a hand grip secured to the closure member for rotation thereon, a key-operated lock and at least one locking member movable by the lock connected to the shell for rotation therewith. A race is disposed for rotation in the shell, and a driving connection is provided between the race and the closure member which is torque limited in the direction which advances the closure member on the filler neck and positive in the opposite direction, the locking member being movable into and out of engagement with the race selectively to provide a driving connection between the shell and the race.

  • Patent number: 4000632
Abstract: A locking, threaded gas cap for vehicle fuel tanks having threaded filler necks, the cap comprising a closure member threaded to engage and close the filler neck and an outer shell member mounted on the closure member for relative rotation to provide a hand grip. The closure member provides a plurality of abutments spaced peripherally about its axis while the shell member provides at least one yieldably movable drive finger extending radially outwardly into engagement with the abutments. The shell member provides a first stop for preventing movement of the drive finger out of engagement with the abutments when the shell member is rotated in one direction to thread the closure member onto the filler neck. The shell member provides a second stop having an operative position for preventing movement of the drive finger out of engagement with the abutments when the shell member is rotated in the opposite direction to remove the closure member.

  • Patent number: 3998078
Abstract: A limited torque cap is provided with a construction wherein a cam ring is located concentrically within a plurality of at least three radial movable jaws, normally biased inwardly and arranged to provide a driving connection with the cam ring until a predetermined level of torque is applied to the ring-jaw connection. A further construction is provided for effecting axial movement of the cam ring relative to the jaw members after a predetermined torque is achieved, whereby to prevent re-coupling of the cam ring and jaws and effectively "locking" the cap against further tightening to its connection and against removal. An "unlocking" feature permits selective restoration of the ring-jaw connection.

  • Patent number: 3973687
Abstract: A safety cap for bottles, jars, and containers which contain pills, medicines, or dangerous substances, the cap being lockable onto the container and cannot be unlocked or opened with the insertion of anything but a suitable key through the cap. Where the bottle or jar has an inner abutment or rib, the safety cap has radially extensible locking rods in bores in the cap body, and resiliently biased to protrude into an annular interspace between the outer and inner walls of the cap, into which the neck of the bottle is received. The rods snap into latched position under the abutment, and are retracted by only insertion and rotation of the key.
