For two punctures, a section of coupling material can be utilized, sized to cover both punctures. The section is assembled to the pipe by inserting the rivet through both the section and the pipe, securing the rivet, then soldering the coupling to the pipe. A rivet end seal can be assembled to an end of a common blind rivet creating a watertight seal.

As the lifting mechanism drives the cover plate to lift relative to the lid, the cone-shaped seal ring lifts relative to the lid and moves upwards along the tapered annular interface to seal the space between the tapered annular interface and the opening of the container, thus isolating the inside of the container from outside. This container changes the ordinary way of sealing that uses a locking nut for tightly pressing on the opening of the container, and is easier to operate.

The knob is turned to pull the rod upwardly through the holder. This causes the lower end of the holder to push the O-ring downwardly over the tapered lower end of the piston, thereby expanding the O-ring against the inner wall of the pipe. A plurality of gripping teeth are pivotally mounted in slots formed at circumferentially spaced locations about the cylindrical holder.

    Abstract: A method for sealing holes, involves fitting an essentially bushing- and/or tube-shaped plug into a hole and then the wall of the plug is expanded radially along at least one axial segment. In this method, the plug is positively anchored axially in the hole. By this method of producing an axially positive anchoring of the plug in the hole, not only is a tight fit of the plug in the hole achieved, but a mechanical movement of the plug relative to the hole is reliably prevented. A hole arrangement is tightly sealed with an essentially bushing- or tube-shaped plug in the hole having a radially spread axial part fitting tightly in the hole. Between the hole and the plug a locking arrangement with axially positive effect is provided. In a hole arrangement of this kind, not only is tightness ensured, but also piston-like displacement of the plug in the hole is prevented. The hole arrangement can preferably be so designed that the sealing and locking parts are provided axially at different points.

    Abstract: A reusable plug assembly to seal the end of a sewer pipe against gas and water leakage used when the sewer pipe has no useable threads or is not threaded at an open end and in which the plug assembly consists of an overlying end seal bearing against the end of the sewer pipe and having a sleeve extending into the sewer pipe, the sleeve having a flared end portion and a wedge member to expand the flared end portion into a line sealing engagement with the adjacent internal wall of the sewer pipe and an external member simultaneously compressing the end seal against the end of the pipe and drawing the wedge member into the flared end portion of the sleeve to expand it into sealing engagement with the pipe, and the plug assembly being sealed against any leakage between its parts.

    Abstract: A flask for freeze drying being formed of chemically and thermally resistant materials, including a container flask and a cover assembly and having conduit means in the cover assembly for communication with the interior of the container flask and connection to a vacuum source. A filter is removably held in place by a sealing ring on the cover assembly over the point of communication of the tube with the container flask to prevent solid particles from being withdrawn by the vacuum and excludes contaminants on release of the vacuum. A resilient annular sealing ring is compressed between two movable portions of the cover assembly to sealingly engage the walls of the flask mouth and thereby provide a positive seal both at room temperature and in the face of the sudden temperature changes under vacuum which are present in freeze drying procedures.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for continuously making fiber reinforced plastic pipe in which a conveyor tube is formed on an axially fixed hollow rotatable mandrel. A plurality of bands of resin impregnated fiber elements are wound on the conveyor tube as it advances to provide the pipe assembly. The terminal end of the generated pipe assembly is sealed with a plug. A fluid under pressure is fed through the hollow mandrel and out the forward end of the mandrel into a chamber formed by the generated pipe assembly, the plug, and a fluid sealing means within the pipe assembly being generated, thereby causing the pipe assembly to advance.
