  • Patent number: 7845653
Abstract: A container assembly is provided that includes a base container that has an upper opening and an upper container mounted in covering relation over the upper opening of the base container. A linkage connects the upper container to the base container in a manner that allows the upper container to be displaced from the covering relation over the upper opening of the base container, so as to permit access into the base container through the upper opening. A support assembly is spaced from the base container when the upper container is displaced from the covering relation over the upper opening of the base container and wheels are disposed toward a lower portion of the container assembly. A handle is provided for rollingly transporting the container assembly on the wheels in a tilted configuration.

Abstract: A dispensing system for simultaneously dispensing a plurality of reactive materials. The system includes a multiple-barreled syringe having at least two barrels joined by a flange and containing respective different reactive materials. Parallel plungers joined by a flange force sealing members through the barrels to discharge the materials. A static mixer element having an applicator attaches to the syringe, and a means for re-sealing the syringe for subsequent use is provided. A sliding clip engaging a complementary shape removably fixes a loose static mixer element to the syringe, reducing the risk of misplacement and loss.

A tether (94) coupled to the cover (40) has its other end (96) coupled to a filler neck access door (90) so that as the access door (90) is moved from a closed position blocking access to the filler neck (24) to an open position unblocking access to the filler neck (24), the cover (40) is moved from the first position covering the nozzle-receiving opening (36) to the second position uncovering the nozzle-receiving opening (36).

  • Patent number: 6202879
Abstract: A fuel cap assembly for use with a filler neck of a fuel tank. The cap assembly includes a tubular housing having a shaft. The housing secures the cap assembly to the filler neck of the fuel tank. An exterior cover is mounted to the housing for relative rotation about the housing. The cover has an integral hollow handle. The cap assembly is characterized by a pair of actuating fingers movably mounted within the handle. The fingers engage the shaft of the housing to selectively interlock the cover to the housing. A lost motion connection is created between the cover and the housing when the fingers are in a non-engaged position. When the fingers are squeezed to an engaged position, the cover is interlocked to the housing and rotation of the cover imparts rotation upon the housing.

Abstract: A closure apparatus is provided that includes a plurality of plug closures interconnected by straps. Each plug includes a blind bore therein into which a sampling needle may be inserted for penetration of the plug in order to extract a sample from the container to which the plug is attached. The plugs are arranged within an array that may correspond to an array of containers set within wells located in a block array. A membrane is also provided that interconnects the straps and the plugs. The plugs are fashioned from an elastomer such as a silicone elastomer. A layer of PTFE is provided on the bottom outer surface of the plugs and may also be included on the underside of the interconnecting straps and membrane, so as to provide an inert barrier in contact with the contents of the containers.

  • Patent number: 6129237
Abstract: A structure for opening/closing a cover for a case in which when the cover is closed, the cover closes an opening provided in an upper surface of the case, whereas when the cover is opened, the cover is guided at its engaging portions in guides provided on the case, so that the cover is folded in halves upward at a connection, the folded cover is moved by a movable element via one end of the case to below the case and then disposed there. For example, a cover 11 foldable in halves at a first hinge 14 is provided turnably by a second hinge 17 to a turnable plate 16 which is provided turnably by a third hinge 18 to a right-hand end of a device case 1. A pair of guide grooves 19 is provided on a device case 1 such that the pair of guide grooves extends to guide a corresponding pair of engaging pins 20 provided at a left-hand end of the cover 11 from a left-hand end of the upper surface of the case 1 to near a lower right-hand end of the case 1.

Abstract: A secured container closure system is provided for preventing access to the container's contents by small children while allowing ease of access to the container contents by persons of limited strength or dexterity. The system is provided with a first cap having a smooth exterior and being provided with a catch. The first cap is provided within a second cap which has an opening which allows access to the catch. Both the exterior of the first cap and the interior of the second cap are smooth to reduce torque transfer between the second cap and the first cap. A key is provided which may be extended through the opening and engaged to the catch to allow torque transfer between the second cap and first cap for either opening or closing the container. The key may be of an extended length or secured to a wall to allow greater leverage in opening or closing the container.

Abstract: An improved automated immunoassay analyzer including a high throughput automated immunoassay system which can perform high volume testing on a broad range of analytes while selecting from among a diverse set of immunoassays for any given sample. The immunoanalyzer has the capacity to perform a wide range of different types of immunoassays by facile storage and automated combination aboard the instrument among a wide variety of different types of reagents and heterogenous immunoassay beads stored on-board the instrument. The automated design allows reduced user interface (e.g., tests are performed automatically from computer input) including the ability to order, perform and reassay tests reflexively based on test results without operator intervention. Further, the inventive analyzer is not sample tube specific; that is, an instrument that can accept sample tube sizes within a broad size range.
