The lid includes a top wall and a plurality of projections. In the relaxed position, the lid is configured to engage the receptacles so as to retain the lid in a closed configuration. The container is configured to be moved from the closed configuration to an open configuration by moving the lid in a third direction while the peripheral wall is in the flexed position.

In one embodiment, a male portion of geometrically shaped protrusions are provided on the lid or base of the container. A female portion of geometrically shaped openings corresponding to the male portion is provided on the base or lid of the container, respectively. A perforation is provided around the male portion such that once the male portion is locked into the female portion, the only means to open the container is to tear the perforation and cause the male portion to be removed from the lid or base of its origin. The tamper evident feature becomes apparent when the lid is pulled to open the container. The tension created when the lid is lifted in an upward motion will tear the male portion of the perforated lock away from the lid leaving it securely locked into the female base.

The remainder of the latch is dislodged from the recess by pressing on a region of the sidewall of the container. The closure can then be opened by grasping the latch and pulling upwardly thereby freeing the closure from the upper rim of the container. The unitary container and closure provide an effective child resistant package which is likewise easily opened by an adult or senior citizen.

This driving section then is directed into the space between the upstanding ribs associated with the top wall of the inner cap by moving the inner cap and outer driver axially toward each other.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for opening and closing a cap pivotally mounted on a container for storing reagents for use in an automated analytical instrument. The cap has one end for sealing the container and a tab extending from the other end for pivoting the cap. The method comprises the steps of positioning a closed container adjacent an actuating device mounted on the analytical system. The method further comprises the steps of projecting the actuating device against the top of the tab to pivotally open the cap to a position sufficiently vertical for aspirating reagent from the container, and retracting the actuating device from the cap to a position above the pivotal mounting thereof. The method comprises the final step of causing relative motion between the cap and the actuating device so that the actuating device drags along the top of the cap pivotally closing the cap to provide a sufficient seal on the container preventing evaporation of the reagent therefrom.

Interengagement means is integrally formed on the cover and base peripheral walls to latch the cover to the base when the front portions of the base and cover are pressed together and unlatch when the front portions of the base and cover are forced apart.

Abstract: A packaging pot for marketing various products, comprising a container housed within a casing body covered by a casing lid which pivots about a horizontal articulation, with a resilient snap-action closure system releasable by manual action on an externally projecting lug. The container is clamped in a single-piece ring comprising a lower annular member which is integral with the container and a pivoting upper annular member which is joined to the lower annular member by means of a flexible hinge-strap, the two annular members being provided respectively with complementary snap-fastening elements, the top portion of the casing body being fastened around the lower annular member and the bottom portion of the casing lid being fastened around the upper annular member.

Abstract: A rectangular container assembly having a cover and a base tray. The base tray has a flange member along the exterior surface of the wall of the base tray to keep the cover in position and has a sealing ring provided above the flange member to effect an intimate connection for this container. Each corner formed by the lateral wall of the cover is smoothly curtailed so as to facilitate the opening of this container by pressing one of the corners.
