Patent number: 5775483Abstract: This invention relates generally a cover member in combination with an open mouth container formed with a plurality of integral keeper channels and a cover member that includes a plurality of keeper members adapted to lockingly engage the keeper channels that are integrally formed in the collar of the container, whereby the configuration of the cover member and the matching configuration of the associated container are always secured in fixed alignment with each other when the cover is secured over the mouth of the container, whereby the container is readily adapted to be received and stacked in the receptacle of the preceding covered container in a stable vertical formation.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: FloTool Plastics CorporationInventors: John M. Patent number: 5768976Abstract: A device for automatically locking or unlocking the pressure lid in electric pressure cookers is disclosed. In the above device, a drive gear which is fixed to the output shaft of a reversible motor gears into a spur gear of the lock ring. A contact protrusion which is provided on the peripheral edge of the lock ring selectively comes into contact with either lock or unlock sensing switches in accordance with a rotating motion of the lock ring, thereby turning on the switch and automatically locking or unlocking the inward protrusions of the lock ring relative to the outward protrusions of the pressure lid. The above device is thus convenient to the user. The device does not have any handle lever exposed outside the cooker, thus neither causing a difficulty in packing the cooker nor spoiling the appearance of the cooker.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1997Date of Patent: June 23, 1998Inventor: Joong Kwang Suk

Patent number: 5711447Abstract: A twist-on/twist-off resealable assembly for a can-end, such as a metal can used in the beverage industry includes a first set of knuckles formed on the can body near its top opening. A plurality of cooperating fingers on the inside of the can lid engage the knuckles so that the lid is tightened by its progressive downward motion as the lid is rotated. The lid also includes a weakened or frangible portion for forming a straw opening. A second set of knuckles are located below the top set of knuckles for engagement by fingers extending from a pilfer-proof ring. The twist-off can lid may be made from the same metal as the can body or alternatively from a transparent plastic material or a combination of metal and plastic.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1996Date of Patent: January 27, 1998Assignee: The Coca-Cola CompanyInventor: George Plester

Patent number: 5637104Abstract: A suction container usable to suction fluids from the surgical field in an operating room environment. The container has a rigid cover overlying a flexible body portion attached thereto, the cover including a pour spout having a tubular body portion, a segmented thread disposed on an inner wall as a tubular body, the thread having a plurality of spaced segments, each segment defining a ramp and a stop. A locking cap is provided for mounting on the pour spout, the locking cap having a complementary tubular body for insertion into the pour spout, with complementary spaced ramped locking elements disposed on an outer surface of the tubular body for engaging the thread segments in locking the cap on the pour spout in fluid-tight engagement.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1995Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Assignee: Abbott LaboratoriesInventors: Art E. Patent number: 5628417Abstract: A blow molded plastic cap is provided, having multi-start external threads, the bottom rim of its body being engagable with multiple internal threads of a blow molded plastic container to effect a seal therewith. The interlocking of the threads compresses together the cap and the container forming a seal therewith provided by the side wall and the top wall of the cap in combination with the side wall and the top flange of the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1995Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Inventor: Jacob Van Halteren

Patent number: 5533633Abstract: A container and closure assembly for storing fluids under pressure has cooperating screw threads on the neck of the container and the closure. Mutually engageable elements on the neck and closure block the rotation of the closure in the unscrewing direction beyond an intermediate position when the closure is under pressure. The neck of the container and the closure are constructed to provide a vent for releasing this pressure to allow the closure to be fully removed.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1994Date of Patent: July 9, 1996Assignee: Beeson and Sons LimitedInventor: Roger M. Patent number: 5480045Abstract: A blow molded container has a cylindrical neck portion with novel seven circumferentially spaced continuous spiral thread configurations on its exterior to immediately receive and engage an improved tamper indicating flexible cap comprising a top with an annular depending wall on its peripheral edge and seven circumferentially spaced continuous spiral thread configurations on the inner surface of the annular depending wall. The novel constructions enable the tamper indicating flexible cap to immediately engage the lead-in ends of the seven circumferentially spaced thread patterns on the exterior of the neck of the container without the heretofore necessary rotation of the prior art caps in order to engage the single spiral thread configuration on the neck of the container.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1993Date of Patent: January 2, 1996Assignee: Portola Packaging, Inc.Inventors: Luca Molinaro, Robert E.
