  • Patent number: 5960980
Abstract: A vented hatch cover assembly for a railroad hopper car including top and bottom members having substantially rigid and somewhat dome-shaped bodies which are divided into four quadrants wherein each quadrant includes coacting baffle members extending from the bodies of the top and bottom members which define a plurality of circuitous air passageways to allow air flow into and out of the hopper car while restricting moisture and other contaminants from entering the car. An improved hatch cover lock mechanism for securing a vented or non-vented cover to the hatch is easily adjustable to provide a tight seal between the cover and hatch, and provides a safe controlled opening of a non-vented cover. An improved seal or gasket is arranged between the cover and hatch.

  • Patent number: 5768976
Abstract: A device for automatically locking or unlocking the pressure lid in electric pressure cookers is disclosed. In the above device, a drive gear which is fixed to the output shaft of a reversible motor gears into a spur gear of the lock ring. A contact protrusion which is provided on the peripheral edge of the lock ring selectively comes into contact with either lock or unlock sensing switches in accordance with a rotating motion of the lock ring, thereby turning on the switch and automatically locking or unlocking the inward protrusions of the lock ring relative to the outward protrusions of the pressure lid. The above device is thus convenient to the user. The device does not have any handle lever exposed outside the cooker, thus neither causing a difficulty in packing the cooker nor spoiling the appearance of the cooker.

  • Patent number: 5762224
Abstract: A re-enterable environmentally sealed enclosure for housing circuitry and/or cable components of a communication network employs a removable cover attached to an enclosure base by a pivoting cam-tracking system. The tracking configuration positions the cover in a manner that, as it approaches the enclosure base when being closed, a seal located in the cover is evenly compressed along its entire perimeter against a corresponding mating surface on the base, thereby distributing the compressive force equally across the entire seal, with any shear forces substantially eliminated. A single tensioning system is provided adjacent the cam-tracking system, so that the tracking system does not operate as a counter-lever to the tensioning system, and visa versa, thereby improving the distribution of force across the seal.

  • Patent number: 5657892
Abstract: A closure for a pressure vessel having a collar connectable to the pressure vessel and to a cap, a seal disposed in an area where the collar and cap contact each other, and a plurality of clamping elements for generating the surface pressure between the collar and the cap. The collar comprises an integral sealing flange having an upper flat sealing surface and a lower circumferential annular bead at least partially circular in cross-section. A plurality of C-shaped clamps are displaceably, releasably and form-fittingly held on said lower circumferential annular bead. Each C-shaped clamp comprises one pressure screw and constitutes a clamping element. In the operational state of the closure, the C-shaped clamps press on the edge region of the cap resting on the sealing flange of the collar.
