The means to prevent the raising of the plate includes a fastening device associated to a structure of the pan. The fastening device includes at least one hook, which is hingedly joined to a shaft of the structure. The hook is susceptible to catching a portion of the plate when it tilts on the shaft.

The body portions are shaped such that the receptacle has a generally hollow interior when closed. The receptacle may advantageously be opened by applying a deflection force to the hinge which results in the movement of an edge of the first body portion away from the second body portion. A pair of hinges may be provided. The receptacle may take the form of a case for spectacles.
